Thought I would share a couple videos of the Targa Tasmania Tour I did two weeks ago. There were 14 Ferrari's in our group and over 100 non competitive vehicles. For more info on the Targa click here https://targa.com.au/tc/page_standard.asp?asset_id=19237 I've included the Georgetown stage, and part of the Mt Roland stage. We were in the non-comp group, so no helmets or roll cages required. Just took it easy and enjoyed the windy roads.. I highly recommend the experience for anyone looking to enjoy their Ferrari at speed on closed roads. By the way, my 2003 360 held up perfectly covering 2000 kms over 6 days of driving.. Not a single issue, but will certainly receive some TLC at its next service. Enjoy!!
Sounds beautiful! How does it actually work? How much driving do you do a day (roughly how long in the car each day)? and can faster cars overtake slower cars or someone taking it easy etc?
definitely fun to watch... but looks like a 458 went off the road into the trees in 2nd vid.. I guess was trying to blast the car as hard as possible in that straight and then tight left bend.. before could react enough..
Ferrari Australia had arranged for us to do 4 days of the 6 day tour. On the biggest days you drive about 350km in total. About 80-100k in race stage, and the rest in transit. Some of the transit stages are almost as nice as the race stages. We were based in Launceston, so we would spend the first hour transiting to the starting stage. We would start around 7am and be back around 3pm. There is no passing allowed during the race stage ( unless there is an accident). So our group of 14 cars just ordered themselves from fastest to slowest.. The 488/Cali T/Lusso and 458's were at the front, the 360's/355's at the back..430's in the middle.. but if you wanted to go hard or take it easy you could move around the order of your group. Tasmania has great scenery, and amazing food. Every night we had first class meal featuring local produce/game/wine.. I even ate Tasmanian Wallaby. and it was great. Half the fun was meeting all the other car enthusiasts, even my wife (who is not a huge car nut) had an amazing time.
Apparently, the 458 was having some electronic (ASR sensor) issues prior to the accident.. but I'm not exactly sure what happened. The damage was minor enough that the airbags did not deploy.. so that is small bonus..
