I enjoy doing the maintenance and car care on my 328, but there's one task that always just seems to tick me off. Cleaning the inside of the windshield. I can never seem to get it streak free, and after a week I always seem to have to do it again. Of course, treating the vinyl dash always results in a needed cleaning of the windshield too. I bang my head on the rear view mirror every time. It's the one thing that frustrates me to no end.

    What's your most frustrating task?

The most frustrating task is not being able to drive it because of being too busy doing other things :D:D:D

Joking aside, I gotta agree with you about the interior windshield, it is very difficult to access

+1 on the inside of the windshield. [Although, mine's not too bad with the roof down ;)]

A tip one of the detailers published here a while back was to do the inside with, eg, vertical wipes and the outside with horizontal wipes - That way at least you can see if the streaks are on the inside or the outside.

Another possibility: I noticed an ad (probably in R&T) for a triangular "plate" with a handle that looked like it may be do the job (From Griots?) - Anyone tried using one? Any good? [I'm always skeptical of such gizmos - Use 'em once and add 'em to the pile of "nice idea, but...." tools I seem to acquire.....]

    Cheers,
    Ian

Detailing the wheels. Hate doing that on all of my cars.

I used to. But I now have an "Ace Powerstick" - Pop it in a cordless drill and away you go - One of the few gizmos that does work as advertised :)

It seems it's been updated to the "turbo stick" now.....It'll even fit between the calipers and the wheels. Recommended. [No affiliation btw]

    Thanks Ian,

I have tried things like that. But I still have to get on my knees and clean behind the spokes and such. I really clean them. Even on my daily drivers I spend several minutes per wheel and I can hardly stand up straight when I am done.

Indeed! It's still a gnarly job, and the knees and back are *screaming* by the time I'm done (A good pair of knee pads helps!) but it does make getting behind the spokes etc a lot easier IMHO.

Now, my Audi Allroad has some nice looking but almost "filled in" wheels and they're a *major* PITA :(

    Cheers,
    Ian

I have CCB's. No more problem!

There is one thing I really HATE on the F430. It's the unbelievably loud and annoying seat belt buzzer. You put the key in before you buckle up and this high pitched whine shatters your ears. I never figured out why it's so obnoxious.

I wouldn't list it as a "hate" but watching the gas gauge rapidly deplete is not one of my favorite things.

vinyl treatment on the dash evaporates and deposits itself on the windshield. This is probably one reason why you have to clean the glass again one week later. Also, I just take a paint stick or an old broken yard stick, and wrap paper towel (or newspaper) around it to get to the glass that the binnacle is blocking access to.

So, go up inside the dash and find the plug that takes the buzzer out of the circuit. Presto, no noise, and if the next owner wants/needs the noise, its easy to undo.

My F355 has no buzzers, bells, or whistles (right now).

    :p :p

I thought so! It was the legendary (round here) detailer Bob Willis that I saw using one that convinced me to get one - "if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me!" [They ain't cheap though ]

I also found a link to the "interior windshield cleaning device" I mentioned above - The bad news is it's one of those "only on TV/two for one" sites - BEWARE - it'll start a really obnoxious video when you clink the link: https://www.newwindshieldwonder.com/

It doesn't look like a bad idea, but as I said above, I suspect it'll wind up in the "nice idea, but rubbish" pile...... Anyone got one? Any good?

    Cheers,
    Ian

I have that thing and got it from Griots. It was definitely a 'use it once' and then throw it in a box. I wasn't very impressed with it because you couldn't get enough pressure onto the pad to really wipe the inside of the windshield very well.

My advice is to avoid that item.

Yes cleaning the wheels would have to be high up there on the list....the brake dust deposits there in 5 minutes on the 430.

Has anyone tried Rejex wax/sealant on their rims? Different application, but a lot of diesel powered boat owners would use it on the transom of the boat to make washing the diesel soot off easier.

I hate cleaning the door strakes on my 348. It is a PITA to clean and wax them properly.
