TCU Band half time shows--for the band nerds out there

This is the marching show from last year "We The People" and the one they are working on for this year "Rockstar".

Rockstar is only about half way complete. It will have Voodoo Child by Hendrix, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and Party Like a Rockstar by Shop Boyz as the main features. There will be a drum break at the end of the show that is not ready yet and was not done at this exhibition.

Oh, btw, my son is playing the tuba solo in Voodoo Child. He is right on the 40 yard line at the sideline marker during it and does not march with the band. The tuba section comes and encircles him toward the end of the song. They should be playing the whole show at the remaining home games in Fort Worth.

Rockstar is actually a fun show to watch for those of you who are into marching bands.

Just some info you may not know.
Sara Bauza the trumpet soloist played all summer at Disneyworld in the All-American Band-1st chair. She is considered to be the best college trumpet player in the US. The drum line members all play in DCI bands in the summer. They have members from The Cavaliers, The Phantom Regiment, The Blue Devils and several other bands. Our son J.J. playing the tuba solo in Voodoo Child was 1st Chair All-State in high school and is the 1st chair at TCU as a sophomore above three graduate students and all the seniors and juniors and is said to be one of the top college tuba players in the US. I do not know about that but he sure surprised us with this solo of a guitar part on a tuba...........

 

If any of you are in Fort Worth when TCU is playing at home you should come to a game. The Horned Frogs are playing good football this year and the band adds to the excitement of the games..........
