So I was checking out a friend's TDF (he got it recently, and owned an F12 a few years ago), (I just love the TDF for the record) but when I was on the driver's seat, I came to realize that I love my F12 a lot!
Eventhough the TDF's different gear setting, metal flooring, 1 of 7?? back badge, and higher performance numbers, ...but ...I am not drooling over the TDF as much as before -if U know what I mean-.
I appreciate the rear's famous tunnel cut design on the F12 which was changed with TDF, I love the fact that the F12 has a moving part for (brakes air cooling system) in which the TDF has that out for wieght purposes I guess. And as for numbers on the road, I would care a lot only if I was tracking my car that much.
So I guess, if U have an F12 it would not be easy to take the decision to swap for the TDF, but if U r not an F12 owner, a TDF would be a -no brainer- IMO if money wasn't an issue too.
To sum up, I learned to love my F12 evenmore after this experience and wanted to share.
Note: still love the TDF and may consider one later.
    :)

they made 799 TDFs and around 4500 F12s
USA market gets 2/3 so there are around 525 TDFs and 3000 F12s here
both are "rare" cars in general but the TDF is 5-6x more rare, and hence the value is greater in dollars.
the TDF is not 5-6x better in performance or driving pleasure however and that is what you are experiencing.

IMHO i think the F12 is a cleaner prettier design and the TDF just looks like a modded F12, which if we are being honest that is all it really is.

OMG, I was just thinking this last night as I stared at my beautiful 2014 F12 in my garage. Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones that wasn't chosen to get a TDF from the start. For 4 years now I've set my mind to trading up. The more I think about it, The more I realize, is it REALLY worth $600k + my car for the TDF. Performance aside (we know it's a huge difference). Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and Yes the TDF is a pretty car, But for $600k I think i'd rather keep my F12 and also get the 812 VS.

That's another common case of the law of diminished return - the TdF seems to me far more special than the F12, but as soon as money is part of the equation one may always wonder whether it's worth the price difference.
The same apply to 360 CS vs 360 Modena, 430 Scuderia vs F430, 458 Speciale vs 458 Italia, 488 Pista vs 488 GTB, 599 GTO vs 599 GTB...
If money is no object, IMHO there should be no hesitation - get the most special car, and then complement it with whatever; but if it's getting the most special instead of the regular one plus another car, typically the second case is a better deal.
I keep my 488 GTB and add a 550 Maranello for less money than the upgrade to a Pista ;)

    LOL.
My F12 is rosso scuderia, under sunlight I imagine I can notice an orange hint which makes the difference I guess with other -F reds- :)

    wow i think you're right
1/3 of 4500 would be only 1500 F12s in the USA, getting more rare every day!

    Interesting
@Caeruleus11 Any broad idea about the distribution of the remaining 3000 cars world wide? Europe, Asia, Middle East, Russia ...etc (main markets)

    30% USA
30% Italy, the UK, Germany, France, and Switzerland
25% other, assuming remaining Europe and Latin America
    15% Asia

In an attempt to guess what was the global distribution of Ferrari's sales back in 2018 I compiled the enclosed table using different sources. According with this compilation the global distribution of Ferrari's sales (all models) was the following in 2018:

    All Europe: 43%
    US: 34%
    Rest of the world: 23%

I think UK gets ~10% so you can further break things out that way.
