    From Autosport:

Team Modena have announced they are to switch from the GT1 class of the Le Mans Series to GT2 next year, and will swap their Aston Martin DBR9 for a Ferrari F430.

The future of GT1 on both sides of the Atlantic is currently in doubt, with the works Chevrolet team - the only full-season GT1 entrants in the American Le Mans Series - stepping over to ALMS GT2 next year, and GT1 entries dwindling in both the LMS and FIA GT Championship.

Modena team principal Graham Schultz said his squad are not expecting an easy time in the GT2 category.

"Running the GT2 car will be a new challenge for us," he said.

"GT2 is highly competitive in the LMS, but we have shown before that we can be winners in that series, and we are sure we will be able to show the professionalism and performance that people have come to expect from us in international sportscar racing."

The team have yet to announce their drivers for next season.

Modena duo Tomas Enge and Antonio Garcia won three out of five GT1 races in this year's LMS, but were beaten to the class title by the Alphand Corvette.

Rik - if you read this (I'll PM too) CONGRATULATIONS for making the switch - it will be odd being at the races and not seeing the #59 AM - such a beautiful car and well deserving of all her glory, but now we'll definitely be cheering for your new entry! Next step (down the road in a few years) would certainly be a P1 Ferrari (wishful thinking). Can't wait to see the new GT2 entry in Barcelona. Hopefully a fantastic driver line-up to go with the new start.

    This is great news.

This is great news! I love seeing the F430s run around the track. The Aston was a beautiful machine and was my fiancee's favorite but she'll come around to our side :)

Ah, great news. A great team with a great car should equal great success.

If possible I come and say hi on a European track next year.
