I was invited to a track day at Mallala yesterday. I couldn't make it due to a family commitment. Not my caper anyway. Seems like it might have been a good one to miss. I don't know the details, but I've seen pics like this too often. Poor bastard. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmmmm... I hope it's brakes didn't fade... Mallala is quite hard on brakes. Poor bugger though. That's a bit of a mess. But quite fixable.
Using all new genuine parts, about $60k. But 355 bits spew out of every other breaker in europe, could spend LOTS of time and shop around to save $20-30K.
Nasty! I'm just wondering what happened though, it looks like it must have shunted into another car, as I can't recall anything that solid off the track at Mallala.
Hard to tell from that photo. There seems to be a suspicious dent in the rear guard. If there is a corresponding dent at the top of the door shut line on the rear guard it would have a bent chassis. From what I have seen it is relatively easy to bend a spider's chassis at that point. BIG bucks. If that turns out to be ok, it could be about $40k drive away for the frontal damage.
I happen to have a 355 front spoiler and headlight box's. Also a rear deck complete with all accessories.
Thats got to hurt. Some substantial damage unfortunately. Lets hope his/her insurance covers track days..
I see, I just remembered at Mallala there wasn't any concrete that looked like you could hit it fairly square on, unlike AIR.
All the bolt on bits will be ok, it's the luggage compartment panels and welded parts that'll be the staller.
Does anyone here have insurance that specifically covers track days? I have a feeling my broker would laugh if I asked for a quote that included track days.
like SiFi said, there's very few places at Mallala where you're likley to hit something head on like that. must have run out of skill, experience and luck at just the wrong place.
if you'll notice in the classic adelaide that car is entered just below a certain dino... wonder how that will go... actually, there's already nearly 30 ferraris registered for this years event.
