I've only been around here for a few months, and was wondering if anyone ever organizes a tech day for getting together and working on cars. I know I am going to need to fit a new shift bushing on my 360 Spider, and would rather do it in the company of folks that know more about these fabulous machines.

Does that sort of thing ever happen here in the Triangle?

Mark...including myself, there's ~5-6 guys who do all their maintenance and repairs themselves. The only problem is we are all 308 owners, but, we also do most of the other work on our other cars which include BMWs, Mini's, Jag's, and 911's. I know I and these other guys would love to poke around your 360!

All of these guys are regular attendees at the 1st Saturday Cars-n-Coffee gathering at Brier Creek and I'm sure there's plenty of DIY info on this site for the shift bushing replacement you want to do.

I'm a triangle 308 owner, not already included in the ~5-6, do my own wrenching on the 308 and a small army of Fiat X1/9s... would be very interested in participating in a Ferrari tech day now and then. Depending on timing and other details, I could provide a venue with a two-post lift.

(Of course you run the risk of your car catching rust cooties from one of my Fiats :))

Greg: Unfortunately, I have not been able to make it to Brier Creek since I got the 360. Mostly health issues. I am hoping I can make July, although turnout might be down because of the holiday. I know I am going to need to do the bushing, and I think I need to top off the fluid for the convertible top. It kinda stalls part way through the cycle. I would just feel better with some Ferrari experienced folks around me to back me up if I get into a snag.

Eric: Having access to a lift would be awesome! (Always liked the X1/9, btw.)

Eric...cool. I know there's several owners in the area with lifts, now yours included! I think a tech day would be a good idea. Maybe we can compile a list of service / repair items to discuss?

Mark...looking forward to meeting you next weekend @ Cars n Coffee. I'll chat with some of the guys, but that fix looks pretty straight forward and within our capabilities.

Not sure if anyone had actually met Mark, but his health issues got the best of him last year. Should remind us all to enjoy our lives and what we have... Cherish family & friends... Take joy in the small things like going for drive with no particular destination

I love tech days at European Road and Racing!! I'm never there...which is for the best. Karl handles the tech, and I handle the check :)

I AM there sometimes and then Karl throws me out of the garage area, mumbling something about the insurance guy citing him. Then I'm forced to sit in a corner of the waiting room with a dunce cap on, which frankly I think is a little extreme......no wonder I have all these mental issues. Oh well....at least I get to go to Charleston.

Chip, you are pushing the wrong buttons. Ask Martin about his Dinan BMW 5. Ask Karl about his 996/997 that may be the fastest thing in the low country. Better still, take a few pics of the cars out front and post them on the spotter's thread.

There is one thing you can do to stay in the garage. Grab a wrench.

But what ever you do, don't send him a 2006 Range Rover (my wife's). It has that f-ing jaguar engine and he can't deal with it. (But he loves my son's 2004 Rover--BMW Engine.)

Karl DID give me a ride in that Porsche a while back and as far as I'm concerned it is the fastest and best road hugging projectile I've ever ridden in. Thanks again, Karl.

Don't even get me started about Jaguar engines. Having owned and restored (with help of course) two Series 1 E-Type roadsters, (1964 and 1966) I have many stories to tell about those. Take care.
