Or if someone has one to lend or rent. I just pulled my engine Sunday and am presently cleaning it prior to the head removal ordeal. Went thru this with an x19 back in the 90s and it took 3 months to get thevhead off. Hoping life will be easier. Gt4 15086.

I've had a few heads stuck really bad on these. I had the engines out of the car. Use a very large propane torch fed directly off a propane tank that normally is used for grilling to heat the head quite a bit, then use a piece of wood placed in an appropriate area where you can apply force in the direction of removal, then proceed to hit the piece of wood with a large heavy mallet. It can take a while and a few cycles of heating and cooling but I've always managed to remove the heads without having to fabricate a custom puller.

Just post a photo, and if you can measure the hole locations or centers he can give that to a machine shop and copy it.

My heads came right off with no issues. I think it's a bit premature to concentrate on a puller before getting to a point where you have determined that it's going to be needed. Remove all the nuts, soak the studs with PB Blaster and see what happens.

I've got my engine out and I have already experienced my first problem.....having a he'll of a time getting the valve covers off. It's like they are glued on. Presently tapping a putty knife around the cover. Hardly goes in at all. Razor blade isn't working. Anyone have a suggestion on what to spray on the seam between the head and cover that might penetrate and soften up the gasket. Such fun. All this because I am bound and determined to replace the exhaust valves. Thank all. I live in Central ny south of utica.

I am posting this so that you have an idea of how to make a tool.
The 2V heads were frozen on the block and the use of this tool made the job a 30-minute job instead of 30 days.

The extra long bolt does not have to be long, it just happened to be what was available at the time.

The two large sides attach to the intake and exhaust sides of the head via the intake and exhaust studs.
The four long rods push against the four head studs. The ends of the rods keep sliding off the head studs so I needed to make some sleeves using 1/2 inch copper pipes (left over from the plumbing job I did on my house) to keep the rods engaged on the top of the head studs.
