Nope, bought by COMPAQ then HP When HP bought COMPAQ it was time to leave, the HP people in OZ had a very bad attitude (like, we bought you, you must do whatever I say) ...... not all but most
My best friend in Balmain said the same he ran COMPAQ sales Asia-Pacific ,once HP bought it he said every month he would achieve projected sales figures and month they would increase the sales figures required. He walked away from a million-plus-a-year position straight into another million dollars a year plus position at MCQ When I had the office in Bondi Junction and also for Sydney holidays , I would always stay at the Swiss Hotel in Market st and state I worked for HP, huge discount ,you would have done the same ?
I have heard of WANG though. And the first computer I mucked around on was a TRS-80, so… well. Nothing really.
It was reported in the Oz. Rest of the media is beholden to the CCP so you won’t hear much. Especially on their ABC.
Been playing around with this: https://openai.com/ It's incredible. Let's see if lawyers have a well paid job in 12 months time.
**** me. Here we go again. Today I updated the software on my iPad (because, you know, it’s so important to do so) and Lo and behold all of my recent “notes” on my phone have disappeared. Regardless of the fact I did nothing to my phone. I literally spent an hour today creating a new important note on my phone with around 30 things I need to remember tomorrow and, bang, gone. Along with any other note I made in the last month or so. What. The. ****. Don’t anyone go down the Apple v Android path. This is about the general ****ing hopelessness of the pimply, hair-bun wearing poofs who put out this stuff. Honestly, tech these days is utterly pathetic. Every ****ing time I do an update it ****s something up that was previously working fine.
Stop using Apple !! I know the whole it's better BS but I've worked in comms for over 30 years and one of the main bastards I had to deal with is Apple In saying that this is not a comms problem but a Steve problem, did you read the disclaimer BEFORE you upgraded which would have said to back up all of you devices BEFORE the upgrade ? IF there was no disclaimer then you can blame the programmers but Apple has this good/bad habit of "syncing" all devices, iPhone/iPad/iMac/iStupid, so if it wipes your notes on one device it'll do the same on the others unless it has been configured not, or that is what I found over the years
The good news is I found my note. But of course what happened was that after the update it decided to move some of my notes to a completely different folder / location on the phone. I hate that all this crap happens without the customer asking for it or given a choice. Just because some nerd thinks it’ll be “better” it goes ahead and does it. It’s not just phones / iPads etc., it’s the same with all tech. Even my TV drives me nuts with endless updates that seem to do nothing but make life harder by changing settings that I’d spent time putting the way I want them.
Same here and none of the 'fixes' I found when I did a search work either... Oh and I didn't 'accept' any update either; they are automatic/ forced.
On updates to my iPhone -I just hand the "thing' to my old P.A when I go into my office "sniffing " around for deals ..
If the young nerds listen to us old farts, nothing will change and the world will still be on dial up modem
It's always a **** when you update your Iphone/Ipad etc. Wasn't there a class action against Apple for this? Software updates that purposely introduced "bugs" onto your phone slowing it down, camera not focusing etc. Apple are scam artists, but I love using their products.
