I used concentrated Techron to clean all the carbon off the pistons of a BMW engine I was rebuilding. This stuff TORE though the carbon like it was nothing. It certainly does breakup carbon.

Unlike oil additives Techron is actually recommended by some manufacturers like Mercedes for severe duty or desert weather.

I use it. Can't go wrong and it's easy. Maybe it's psychological but i feel the car runs better with it. After it is out of the tank, the car feels the same though.

Don't buy the Progard version, sold at Costco. It's a diluted version of the Techron.

BP has Amoco premium. I always thought it was good gasoline.

I find it to be a poor fish seasoning.

    Oh, it was a joke.

We'll just count that as strike one.

I'm a believer. Too many cars/boats routinely get screwed up with the ridiculous ethanol the gov't idiots require. These bums have been payed $ to create the laws so that we can only buy fuel with their buddy's blend. The best shelf-life is <90 days and even if you don't get the inevitable phase separation - low use engines will have problems.

You've got to use high octane (the e-blends hinder octane ratings also) and use a stabilizer/addition like those mentioned on low use vehicles/boats. I've started only putting in 10 or 12 gallons at a time, knowing I will be forced to the station more frequently but even that won't garantee because your always leaving tails in the tank.

    Not worth the risk IMO.

Shell V Power sponsored by Road & track, Car and Driver, as well as Ferrari is my choice of nitrogen enriched gasoline, whatever that means. Does anyone actually flip the bill on the Shell Helix Ultra oil? Seems overpriced. I use the Motul engine flush and oil.

Yamaha has a very thick concentrated version of techron made by amoco that they market under the name of RingFree. It does wonders in two and four stroke engines. It will decarbon an engine to the point that you will have to change the oil due to filth in it.Very good stuff. Does anyone know if regular techron is a sticky liquid?

Been using Techron since 1987. My 1981 308 GTSi would run 500-600 miles and then begin to idle poorly. A can of Techron always seemed to fix the problem and smooth out the idle.

My wife's 1985 BWM 528e was a stinker to keep running perfectly..... I think those of you that had one of these know what I am referring to. A bottle of techron appeared to improve engine idle/smoothness if used every 2000 miles.

IMHO this is a great product. I have always used Chevron fuel in our diesel and gas powered daily drivers, as well the various F cars over the year.

I've used Techron since I bought my 308. It's never run other than beautifully. And for what it's worth, GM burns Techron in all it's experimental engines...

I have a friend that manages/runs the largest car parts place in town, it's part of one of the largest national chains, he says the ONLY two he would use are the Techron or the Lucas ones.
Techron can be had at that big blue box store for about $6, the Lucas is about double+.

I have used the Techron in my Honda DD, but if I recall the instructions say to put it in at half a tank, run it down to 1/4 tank, then fill up with the high grade stuff.

Or try the local airport for Av Gas...(sic)

The Lucas Racing Fuel additive really adds a kick but they say it is illegal for street use.

I use Techron Concentrate Plus in my turbo cars to keep the combustion chamber clean, plus it raises your octane.

I put in Techron right before every oil change. Its recommended not to be to used more than 2x per every oil change cycle.
