That was an interesting memory. Even in the last films that came out of the Niavaran Palace you can see an SLC.in the background. Ever since the Chalus road was built, the Shah enjoyed making high speed runs to the Caspian in the different cars that he owned over the years. In the 70's, his "summer car" which he usually kept nearby when at the Caspian, was his Aston Martin V8. Just want to give you a heads up (not a plug) that a book is coming out next month called "Fit for a King: The Royal Cars of the Shah of Iran" which covers all of the cars of the royal garage starting from the Qajar Dynasty, up to the 1979 revolution. It is purely a non-political work of history. You can look it up on the website of the publisher, Dalton Watson.

Hi,

We followed up the above tour with a show at the Tehran Television Tower Exhibition Center, also known as the Milad Tower. We did this show in conjunction with the National Automobile Museum of Iran from the dates of May 7, 2019 to June 2, 2019. The show was a great combination of museum and privately owned cars. The first picture is of this Bizzarini which is believed to have a royal lineage based on the plate of the Royal garage riveted to the firewall.

This Pantera is a personal favorite. The owner was kind enough to loan it to us for the show, and then sent it off for a full restoration. He has restored a number of cars before, including the 64 Corvette you see in the other posts, so we are expecting the best.

This BMW 2800CS is owned by a diehard BMW aficionado. When we put it on display, it had just come off a complete restoration. In 2021 this very same car was selected by BMW for the BMW Classic Prof. Dr. Gerard Knochlein award for best restoration. This accolade was followed in May 2022 by the selection of this car by the Historic Vehicle Association of Iran to receive the first FIVA ID Card in a ceremony that was attended by FIVA President Tiddo Bresters.

Next to the VW was this US spec Beta. It was probably imported to Iran from a Iranian student returning back home from his studies in the States in the 70's.

Thanks for your kind words. The enthusiasts here are just like anyone else you would meet in the world and just as diehard. They just really have to go the proverbial extra mile to keep their cars on the road and to enjoy them. I look forward to posting again very shortly.
