I have a Ferrari 348ts which I love, but I'm interested in something more "retro". A Dino spider is what I'm thinking. What's FMV for a well-sorted one? Are they a maintenance headache? Is there a model to avoid? Is it a fun car to just jump in and run around a bit in, once a week or so?
The Dino is a fantastic car to hop in and drive a few times a week. Very user friendly for a F-Car of the vintage with a small, nimble feeling. Market value for a nicely sorted 246 GT will be around $100k (perhaps just under) while a similar 246 GTS will start at $125k and run all the way up to $200k for an exceptional model.
it was FANTASTIC!! A really good one now costs well over 100K! I had the 1971 Euro version, and I'd recomend that if you can find one! There's NO side marker lights, except for the little round front ones, the front turn signals are flush, not recessed, mine had the "folded arms" wipers, one at each end rather than both pointing the same way, and of course, a few more ponies! The Dino was extremely reliable, fast, and unbelievably comfortable!! REALLY! I had it for 9 years with NO problems, sold it to settle my divorce. Finally, after 20 years, I got a 308GTB!! Ciao!!
Wait a minutes guys, he said a "Dino spider"! You guys told him the wrong price and scared him away. You also told him all the wrong details. After all there is only 1 Dino Spider and that is a FIAT Dino Spider, all the others are just plain 246 GTS's I love my Dino spider, drive it often and love it, has to be the most fun you can have in a car (lets not get banned from F-Chat by arguing that fun statement)
no
Is it a fun car to just jump in and run around a bit in, once a week or so?
absolutely. most people have no idea what it is. be prepared for "nice corvette"
