So I've been looking for a DD to replace the '05 Highlander that was my mom's last vehicle. It only had ~30K miles on it when she passed, so I sold my previous '02 RAM 1500 QuadCab 4x4 and decided to enjoy a, "free car" to keep my expenses down for a few years. It's a great grocery getter, but I just don't feel complete without a pickup, so it's time to move on a new truck.

I do a lot of hunting and yes, you need a 4x4 on a lot of leases, just to ford streams and the like. I also am into bikes, and this would make towing a motorcycle trailer a breeze (My previous truck had the small 4.7L V8, and it was not up to the task).

Going from an '02 to an '18 will be like going from the Space Shuttle to the Enterprise, things have changed so much. So anybody have a Power Wagon and can tell me about it.

I really don't care for the '18 1500's looks, and I had to put a 4" Rancho lift on my 1500 to get enough clearance.

This is set up perfectly by having the 1500 gas engine with the 2500 chassis. No lift needed.

I'm going to be that guy.

    Why not a Raptor?

Climbed over and through one at the auto show. It is well equipped to do off road stuff, but it is a long climb up.

Actually, since I posted this, I've decided a Raptor would be better for me. Specifically, a SuperCab version with the short wheelbase. I live in town, and it would be a lot easier to deal with, plus there is some great off road driving in Texas. It would open up a whole new world. This one is right up the road from me.

My respect for the Raptor is boundless, but these are really two different trucks. The Power Wagon is a truck made to work, and a Raptor is a truck that was made to play.

I've been reading up on all the off road trails in Texas. There are quite a few of them. This is exactly the sort of thing I should get into. Then I'll probably want a KTM. lol

Texas, for fun, Raptor all day. Power Wagons are cool, and they really are a beast. But lots to deal with and better suited for the ranch or the guys who tow and work the trucks. Short wheelbase raptor should fit in a standard garage as well. And so much fun.

Yes, I definitely want the SWB Super Cab and not the LWB Crew cab. And lucky me, over 90% of demand is for Crew Cabs so Super Cabs are easier to find.

I'm trying to choose a color, and will buy the truck in the spring.

I like the silver and the desert tan. White looks clean as well. Actually prefer them without the graphics, and saves you money.
