Although I found a CS (havent set a deal yet) I wanted to look at a few standard 360s before making my mind up. Like many I guess I've set the idea of owning a Ferrari high in my mind and its taken up many day dreaming moments inbetween doing more important stuff..

Went to view 2 cars today, an 04 black with 15k miles (4 owner) at £57k and another 04 red with 20k miles (4 owner) at £50k. Maybe it was the owner count but the latter car was quite shabby.. mildew smell in the bonnet (common problem of water collecting in sill?), lots of small scratches and marks in cabin and dusty/mucky engine compartment. The black one wasn't much better - had creme interior and bolster/seat on drivers side was very well worn down to black and rest of panels squakey, engine mucky again and plenty of stone chips.

I know some of these things are symptoms of the age and number of owners (perfectly) and you get a "feel" for what has been a well cared for car apart from the history and obvious checks/observations, but.. something about today's experience has made me think maybe there aren't any well cared for examples out there. Do I have to look around the 65k mark for a good one and are there "good" 1/2 owner examples around where the interior looks almost "as new" etc. Need some advice before I start thinking I need to look at newer 430s instead!

Keep looking. Nice cars are out there. It will take some patience and you may have to pony up a bit more money for a nicer example. Good luck.

Yes. Take your time. The right one will come along. You may be suprised how little you must part with to get a terrific car.

there are nice cars to be had but you dont get them at or near the entry level range, or even in that lower half of the price range.

when i started looking for mine i dismissed anything that was obviously shabby or cheap and picked a sort of middle of the range pricing area where for other cars this would have given me some choice.
after looking at the first two it became apparent i would need to spend a lot more to get where i wanted to be with the car.
finally bought a fantastic one for a lot more than my original ballpark and ive been happy since.

this seems to be very commonplace for ferrari ownership, it all seems as commonplace that new buyers to the marque dont believe anyone who tells them this until they start looking at cars.

you have now done the hard part though and looked at a couple, it may have seemed a waste of time but it will now have armed you to pick good ones from shabbier ones just from for sale ads. keep hunting and you will find something im sure.

Given the fact that the 360 is an "entry level car," there are many people who buy them and do not prepare for maintenance. Then, they do not maintain them and the result is a shabby, low-priced car.

I took about 4 months to find my car and am glad I took the time. A problem Ferrari can be a real headache.

Though, given thet state of the economy, it is possible to find a good, lower priced car from somebody who is desperate.
