    Just noticed that my temp gauge would go up close to 250 when on idle but when driven or engine rpms are up the temp drops to normal to lower temp, seems its not even overheating since the fans dont kick in and the radiator is not really that hot. Could it be that the thermostat going bad?

    Try bleeding the air out of the system to see if that resolves the fluctuating gauge.
