No need to ask why because I ran over mine and bent it all to hell.

The car is a 540 from 98 and will be driven about 6kms to the dealership.

Is there any replacment other than a paperbag or paper towel? <<< Ha Ha.

    Edit 6 kms - not 6k as in 6,000kms

Maybe a piece of heavy plastic wrap held in place with a rubber band or zip tie? If the car is recent (OBDII) you "Service Engine Soon" or Check Engine light is going to come on because the system isn't sealed anymore.

Yeah that light will probably come on. I'll zip the car into the dealer on Monday, wait a minute I'll just call, the chances of them having a part on hand that I need is slim to none.

    Thanks anyway.

The auto parts store may have a cap that will work on it until you can get the real thing. Autozone has that section with all the "help" products i think there are some universal gas caps in there. I would just shove a small rag in down in the hole and then zip tie something over it.

Thanks. I'll just drive somthing else. Chances are BMW won't have it in stock and I'll have to wait. I'll just park the thing for 3 days and give my license a needed rest.
