Hello all! First post hear, so im going to jump right in. Im going to be starting a project on a 2006 612. Long story short on the 612, the leather on the dash has started pulling up. Leaving the foam/plastic underneath to be exposed. Basically im going to be pulling out the whole dash and having it reupholstered. The problem im running into is im worried about the airbag system. I have the service manual, but unfortunately the only thing it IS missing in there is how to de-activate the air bag...

    Any body have any input?

Here's a pic of what happened. Apologies for the crappy cell phone pics!

sorry for you. i think, even that the car is out of warranty, ferrari should take care of it on their expenses. maybe you talk to Mattiacci?

Sorry for not responding sooner, i never got an email saying somebody replied to the thread!

Yes that would be nice, but like i said "long story short" I dont believe it has to do with a Ferrari problem. But i wont get into that.... When you say Mattiacci, is that a user on here?

    Thanks.

Don't give up completely on getting some help from Ferrari. The sun dries out the leather and it srinks away exposing the metal. I had this happen to me on a Porsche in Palm
Springs and though I was out of warranty they replaced the entire dash. This should not happen on a five year old car.Be a squeaky wheel and you might save a lot of money.Believe me this is no new problem for them and they are embarrassed by these things as it hurts the brand.Park in front of the dealership and see how quickly they politely ask you to move the car.

This is a classic breach of the implied warranty of fitness and they should belly up to the bar and at least pick up part of the tab, notwithstanding any written warranty exclusions.

Good luck and stay out of the sun.

Thanks, i appreciate all the input. Yeah it unfortunately happened on the rear of the car too behind the rear seats. Basically when i said "long story short" here's what happened. The car was parked in a garage that had the hot water tank located in it. Somehow the tank failed, and exploded leaving the car to sit in boiling water for around 2 days. The car has been completely restored, except for this now. So it's a little more in depth than a Ferrari problem we think. It's my bosses car, i take care and mantain all his vehicles. So the problem is being able to prove that the water isnt what did the damage. We have a good and long standing relationshop with our local dealer, so they know the whole story since they restored the car.
