There’s a well priced 2010 Cali at Ferrari of Tampa.

It will be my 2nd Cali, the first one I owned for less than 24 hours due to catastrophic DCT failure on the drive home from the dealer. My bank unwound the deal for me, no harm no foul.

I have my 355 GTS that I won’t sell, but am tempted by the value of a 2010 California, assuming the transmission has been sorted.

I just cannot get my head around getting into a Ferrari that is MORE repair prone than the 355.

Is there certain service records I should be asking about or recalls to look for.

I wouldn’t even consider this if it were at a non Ferrari franchise.

    Thanks in advance!

DCT fluid flush records is what I would as for. Seems that's what others are recommending where these DCTs are in their cars, like MB.

it's not just the DCT, but also the Convertible Top. Which could be more expensive to fix than the DCT. we have a 2014, and would not dream of owning one of these without the power15 warranty being in place for life of ownership.

If the DCT issue is weighing on your mind, then I would try and find a later NA V8 Cali, or better yet the Cali 30 iteration. More money, but the peace of mind may be worth it for you; anecdotal evidence is that the transmission issue - which I think was a poorly placed sensor - went from uncommon to very rare for the later years...T

I've driven about 25k miles in mine over the past couple of years and not had an issue with it. I'm on the last year of the Power15 warranty eligibility, but didn't renew it last year. I've a decision on whether to keep it in July, but I'm leaning towards doing this.

I've had lots of people say about the gearbox, and read the horror stories, I do wonder about whether these though. Are they on low mileage cars or being driven unsympathetically, not giving things chance to warm up before driving hard? I'm nor going to worry about it too much.

My biggest issue at the moment is rear parking sensor failures. I've replaced two and one of the others has failed. So I'm having to override the warning when operating the roof!

How do you override the warning for the roof?

A 2010 is pretty close to the cut off for new power warranty eligibility. If you're saving a couple bucks with a great deal, perhaps you add 2 years of new power if possible/qualifiying then you won't lose any sleep over if and when the DCT may fail or anything else the ferrari warranty covers. As strange as this sounds, you want it to fail under warranty :)

Or just roll the dice, save up here and there for a DCT fund just in case?
