Purchased a new oem boot cover, and it is a snug fit. So snug that it pulled one of the male threaded snaps out, below the rear window. I threaded it back in, but it is not fully seated, and spins. Looks that the only way to get behind it would be to remove the interior trim. That way I can thread it into some additional sheet metal stock to secure it. Anyone familiar with how to remove the interior trim panels? There are some unusual looking fasteners.

I suppose dabbing some JB Weld onto the rear of the male Tenax (to allow you to just screw it in from the outside without removing panels) would be considered too hillbilly?!

Yes. Plus, it is going through the fabric top first, so there will be none on the threads by the time it got to something meaningful like the sheet metal.
