Since everyone is talking about planning dates it looks like Haley's tentative date for the show at the Veterans Hospital is going to be July 16th...this years show will be a bit bigger now that we and the hospital know what's involved in running a show.... it would be nice to open the show up to the local community and the Navy base instead of just being car owners and the patients.
Haley's doing what she can to make sure she doesn't schedule the show to conflict with the other area shows... if anyone sees a conflict with that date please let me know or post here so we can look at other dates..
We really need to figure out the exact date soon though as Haley is working on getting a few local celebs to maybe get some support for this show.
I know the "Deerpath Middle School" show is right around then too.... the VA wants the show to happen in July, so we're still trying to iron out details.
    thanx

Date is duly noted. Keep us posted on all changes. FOC will support this event. A week later we have the Muskegon show, so pls don't move onto that weekend.

Haley tells me the 16th is confirmed :)
When I said it would be nice to open it up to the surrounding community I MEANT the military base and families. We won't be advertising it to the general public per se - but since the whole premise was to do this for the veterans there (many of whom will never leave the hospital) we had talked about inviting the military there in general. As its all free (admission for cars and spectators, and even drinks and snacks) we don't want to just invite all of the Midwest in and instead are trying to keep it manageable by limiting participation to mostly people bringing cars and the Vets and some military
That said now that we know what to expect a bit more and have more preparation time we plan on having more cars and being a little more organized. The campus has plenty of room and using the parking lots allowed for patient’s wheelchairs to get up close. Several people have made some great suggestions and Haley and I are open to any more suggestions. We want to keep this a relaxed, friendly and free show. We talked about creating a few classes of cars for the patients to vote for their favorite in several categories. Last year there were about 50 cars and having just two awards with such a diverse range of cars.. it’s still not going to be a strict show with a ton of rules and rigidly defined classes and all that comes with that.. The judging will be by the people the show is for, the patients, and maybe a n award for a favorite car of the people bringing cars. well, we'll see what evolves, but we're talking about some other categories and door prizes, etc..
Anyway thanx all - keep suggestions coming

To respond with a quote from H. J. Simpson, " Will there be beer? "

I really hope I am free for this. It was so much fun last year. A great show run by some great and cute ladies. The vets were great guys and gals. Chicago weather play nice!

Since this is the Veterans' show, is it ok for me to wear my former uniform? And no, it is very different from Harry's.
