We have a tent going over this place and I wonder just how much I have to cover stuff in here. Can I wrap wine and scotch bottle tops with many layers of plastic wrap? What must we do with Clothing? Linen? Frozen goods?

    This is a nightmare!

We had our place tented over the summer, but it was before we moved in, thus vacant. My RE agent mentioned that he had his done once when they went on vacation, and didn't say anything about extra measures to protect food/wine/clothes/etc. Perhaps call the fumigation co.?

I had mine done just before Xmas. We only bagged up the food. The company doing the job should have provided you with lots of bags. Any food that is open should be bagged.

Anything else is fine just out in the open. Hope that helps.

Don't forget the cigars! I can't remember if we did anything with the linens and clothing but we gave away all of our food and went to San Francisco for a week while the place aired out.

Oh, boy! The Circus comes to WW!

FAQ on sites I checked just mentions bagging "some" foods. No mention of anything else.

    Advice: Go to The Mansion.

Because it's part of the F-Chat bylaws.

    ARTICLE VII - AMENDMENTS
Section IV: Unlike regular Board announcements of erections, proposed termite tents are required to be submitted to the FerrariChat Community. If said termite tent is erected, proof of termite tent erection must be submitted by means of visual aid, i.e. photograph in digitized form.

    Dave,

The standard tenting proceedure involves nothing more then the safe use of a gas which basically "arrest" all the oxygen in the air...suffocating the termites or any other living critters requiring oxygen to live. The moment they remove the tent and open the windows allowing fresh air to enter, the place is as safe as the day you moved in (or something like that).

We often do work in homes after they've tented...for a long time I was worried & concerned about any toxic or dangerous residual toxins remaining in the homes. I've time and again been assured the gas simply ties-up available oxygen and merely suffocates the bugs...nothing like bug-spray or nerve gas.

Plants, fish, animals, etc should be removed. Your cigars actually would be fine and any alcohol unaffected....but it never hurts to be safe.
