One of the good guys RIP.
Very, very sad. "Richards, who has driven in the V8 Supercars Championship since 2000, was diagnosed with an adrenal cortical carcinoma in November 2010, an aggressive and rare form of cancer."
Good Bye to a friend and someone who has inspired me on our outings, I couldn't beleive it this morning when I was told and was hoping that it was just a viscious rumour. Race In Peace mate. And one of the Ferraris that he has had a steer of.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was reading how Jason, played golf on wednesday, just shows how that disease can take a life so quickly.Failure of a major organ?
Terribly sad news. Here he is driving the 1987 Le Mans winning Porsche 962. Porsche were not very happy with him after the drive. Was a great bloke though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=x65bmQq31So#
Although it looks quite tame, he pushed it harder than he was supposed to. Subsequently, he over-revved the engine. However, can not speak of Jason highly enough, had a great demeanour.
Transporting the car around Melbourne, to get all of the work done and Promo stuff at studios. The main aim of getting the businesses together was to reduce the costs for preparing the car for the race at Townsville as well as raising money through "Bid 4 Jase". Unfortunately JR was too sick for that particualr weekend and decided not to drive on the Thursday before the event and therefore Mark Noske stepped in and drove the car. My business was one of a few that donated their time and costs to try and make this happen. Not a huge outlay in the realms of things but it was something that I wanted to do for Jase.
RIP He was interviewed a few weeks ago during sandown. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJQSeLPDt2c[/ame]
RIP Jason. That smile will always be remembered. I've known Jason from when he was a young lad racing Karts back in NZ and was lucky enough to have a chat with him recently at PI. I believe there will be a memorial service at Sandown in the coming weeks for those in Melbourne who wish to pay theirs respects.
Brett, any idea what happened,I know he had the cancer, but one day playing golf, next day gone. I only ask as you know I've had cancer and well just wondering why.
Rob I dont want to harp on the subject but this gives a bit of an idea for the type of cancer that Jase had and the outlook on life - an unreleased interview http://youtu.be/nZdBtt0hlls I remember back in Feb when I was with Jason with three of his good friends, and he showed us his scar I felt sickened and back then he was still positive even knowing and admitting that it may get him in the end due to the agressive nature and type of cancer that he had.
Finally, it brings Jason's personal suffering to an end. I caught up with him again at Homebush this year, this frail & fragile little man, a much less strong version of himself of years past. Complete with that cheeky grin, him still in awe that so many people wanted to know about him & his troubles, willing him on, and also with a sadness on his part that he didnt have more good news to share with them. RIP Jason Richards
Hi, There is a saying in the medical comminity, "the bigger the bastard the better the prognosis" ie, the arseholes allways seem to scrape though, and the nice guys do the worst. There is a very good interview with Jason Richards, where he frankly discusses his situation, [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZdBtt0hlls&feature=player_embedded[/ame] Robbo
