Had an interesting conversation with someone and it made me wonder if there are any ICE cars an average EV buyer would compare comfort and performance specifications with before making the purchase decision ?
Kind of like “Tesla **** seems to offer similar comfort/luxury level and performance as BMW **** or Honda **** in equivalent price point”.
Or does something like that even play any significant role in the decision making ?
    Just curious.

I looked at the Audi RS6, the MB E63 Wagon, and the M5. Couldn't stand the interior on the MB. The M5 was nice, but too small. Couldn't stand the transmission on the Audi. In the end the Tesla was so much quicker, so much more spacious, and so much more convenient it was a no brainer.

Thank you for replying and sharing your experience which show your decision wasn’t based on just it being an EV.
Are/were all these ICE examples you mention and Tesla new and same price point/range ?
Did you had a chance to test drive each extensively to compare handling, suspension, in-motion noise levels, etc under various, but same or similar, road and speed conditions ?

Yes, all new, roughly the same price point. Didn't ever bother driving the MB.

If you are going Tesla, you are basically sacrificing all interior luxury for the tech wizardry.
I have a Lucid GT- Performance version and to me the M5 is something with a similar level of "nice" interior.
I was "asked" by family member to get an eCar and I don't buy German so the Lucid did the trick for me.
Great car, the company has a lot of work to do.

If you are looking at a tesla, get a 2021 plaid used, 75k$ or so, and if you dont like it you won't lose much money trading it in

It is the quickest car I have driven, it will distort your appreciation and love for other sports cars

    I regret the plaid

I sold all of my sports cars...

I miss the raw emotion, the sound, the smells, the problems, the romances, the analog factor

Can you please expand on the distort part?
In my case, my nutso fast Lucid generated no interest in giving up my Gen 2 NSX (wonderful point and shoot handling, turbo sounds for those who like that, spaceship visuals) or my LC 500 Convertible (V8 soundtrack, open air driving, concept car looks, build quality at the highest level).

Both cars you mentioned, I would put on the list of cars I lust after, but I dont find "fast"

I had an ISF with the novel headers and greddy titanium exhaust, and an rc-f track edition with the greddy ti mid pipe, they sounded glorious

At a track day, I was with two other RCF Track Editions / Fuji Editions, everyone said we were the best sounding cars on the track

But on the highway, 500hp feels awfully slow compared to 1000hp

I am longing for an AMG GT R Pro right now, tuned by https://modalwork.com/ - But I said it has to be faster than a 9 second car - after all - I want it faster than the plaid

    Thanks for those points
AMG GT sound tracks are very very enjoyable
Yes, in the never ender search for faster, faster is better and why can't I have faster (except that after the Plaid, for meaningfully faster from the factory, you are kind of like at Lucid Sapphire and then Rimac)
I just like the it's a different experience
I can't safely operate any of these cars at their limits

We rented a Tesla Model Y and Volvo C40 on recent trips. The Tesla interior and exterior build quality would keep me from buying one. The Volvo was better, though harder to charge.

The straight line performance is addictive, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to emulate Audi interior quality in an $80K car. Not expecting a Bentley, but … my ex-A5 was a lot nicer than the Tesla.

Xiaomi just recently announced their electric car. I read that the motor has 98.11% peak efficiency through LinkedIn recently. That platform is definitely not the most trustworthy source of news but if it's true then it's wonderful. May not have the soul we look for in this forum but advancements in tech are always welcome in my book, I heard newer 3 and Y model tesla motors were around 97% and when it comes to this energy stuff getting those last few droplets of juice is really, REALLY hard.

Xiaomi is really killing it in the consumer electronics industry recently, have been using their phones for the last 6 years through 2 different models and as a techie who hates dealing with portables i would say i'm pleased with the price and performance/reliability. It's a Chinese company so i may have my genitalia saved on some tape drives deep underground somewhere in outskirts of Beijing but i doubt others don't do the same.

I have the poor man’s Y with dual motors. It’s a great car BUT it lacks soul/personality. Like you said there’s no emotion. No sounds, smells, rev the motor at a red light,…
