Did a search but found no one that I could find has posted about this conversion to an electrified Tr. Electric Classic Cars in Wales started this conversion over a year ago. It is pretty impressive. At first I was disgusted at the thought but the amount of fabrication, attention to detail and upgrades like traction control, power steering and semi-active suspension on top of a 600hp Tesla motor is truly impressive. 0-60 in 3.9 seconds with incredible handling for the hairpins in Wales. The only area they haven't touched is the brakes. I hope they beef those up. Here's the 2nd video of 9 and where it starts to get interesting. The first vid in the series is just basically taking the Tr for a drive before the conversion after dealing with a dead battery, a hunting idle and stalling. lol
At the time of the 1st vid ECC has 4 Tr's in line for this conversion.

    It’s interesting for sure.
I do believe it can go back to stock though. The new suspension upgrades seem pretty neat.

Greetings from the north shore @Prova85 ! I watched the first episode when it came out but never made it back to check the progress, so thanks for reminding me. Not surprised about the mostly negative response here, but I think it's interesting to see what others get excited about and how they further develop these cars, even if something I would probably never consider unless I blew up the engine.

    Interesting, however

    12 cyl's to 0 cyl's ---> TRans ... formative. Emasculation.

I actually like EVs. I exclusively drove Teslas for many years. However, this type of conversion just feels wrong when it’s a Ferrari. Plus, putting the batteries in the front truck seems like it would be a massive fire risk in a front end collision.

Hey Greg. I expected nothing but negative responses but the entire process is worth watching. I was just fascinated by the level and attention to detail they used to do this conversion the right way and not some kind of crap ass hack job. After driving a Lucid Air and being blown away by it, I would love to drive that Tr with it's power, launch control and semi-active suspension. Electric steering I could do without!
Hope to see you at Tutto in a few weeks. I'll be easy to find with the monospecchio!

Hey Kenny @Prova85 - I caught up from episode 3 or 4 last night, and agree, the attention to detail and quality of the work are impressive. And I would think the semi-active suspension would be more broadly interesting here as that could be done on its own.

In episode 7 he was able to get down to 3.99 sec 0-60 without traction control, then in the next episode without traction he was at just over 5s and mid 4's with the traction. That didn't make any sense.

Remote chance of going to Tutto, all my cars need attention so if I have any time hopefully I'll work on the 512TR.

even though I wouldnt want to convert to full electric, I always had this idea that these guys should be working on getting a hybrid system into classic cars.
like a helper motor between the engine and Gbox, or behind the gbox.. something that would add say 100Kw, sort of power boost.
it would include dynamic braking and regen..
id have that in my old italian cars (not the ferrari though :)
surely someone can do that and package it up as a turnkey solution.

I'm all for it, I've commented before that if my engine died I'd experiment with a completely drop in electric drivetrain. Don't modify anything that you can't put back. Yes it would lose some character, but I'm also interested in seeing modern technology in older cars. To each their own

I have faith that someone will one day buy the car and reinstall its original drivetrain. The junk they remove will find its place in a landfill.

Don't know about it being junk but it's certainly different enough that it's no longer a TR.

Could just as well turn it into a simulator and drive a TR with any drivetrain imaginable.

The heart and soul of a Ferrari is the engine. Without it is nothing! Another subject: the conversion of a 430 to manual for 30K is interesting!

IIRC he had a passenger in the slower runs so add about 200lbs . It wasn't an apples to apples comparison as he was solo when he did 3.99. I believe there's another episode coming where they'll be taking it to a track to get some proper times.

    Hope to see the 512Tr!

ahh that may explain it, though I wouldn't expect only 200 lb to make that big a difference.

yes looking forward to upcoming episodes..

yeah I really want to be driving mine too.. arrived from Switzerland last Nov after a few years searching and working on the deal, service, paint, and a lot of waiting for the shipping. arrived with a few electrical issues that I haven't sorted yet.. fall is nearly here and the time I really want to get it out. I previously posted a photo here

Hope to see you sometime. Locally, I know one other 512TR owner, and know of another on the south shore that bought one I'd considered in Toronto (the first saw the second's car at MoT C&C a couple weeks back). My brother-in-law knows a testarossa owner in his town, and I know of you and another from here.
