I would think that torque and gearing / gear ratio would have more to do with acceleration, especially roll-on.

Well my car has kind of low gearing. At 125, I'm pulling 6.5k. The car really is never in a low RPM range, and accelerates quickly in what ever gear it's in. I usually shift from 1st to 3rd at 10mph and it's like I didn't skip a gear. And yes, gearing and torque have to do with accelleration, but 200lbs of torque? It's not really worth mentioning. If the car had 400lbs of torque, and 230hp and I was wondering why the car had pretty good acceleration well that would obviously be the reason.

Are you in 5th gear pulling an indicated 125 @ 6500 rpm? The gearing for that year car in 5th gear at 6500 rpm is 137.

I too was surprised my glass has the power it does for 30 yr old car. It goes like stink for what it is, and the carbs sound heavenly at 5k and over...i would say its not much slower than my tr once its revved up.

No, I am not surprised by the car pulling 6500 in 5th gear, I am surprised that your speedo shows only 125! The speedo is usually opposite at that speed, and shows more like 145. When I am at 6900rpm in 5th gear, my car shows about 160. That is the first time I have heard of one showing too low a speed.

I myself from earlyist childhood wanted a Ferrari, I saw and heard one from time to time, not very often,as soon as I had enough money, 35 years later, I bought one, I sold my 85 Lotus turbo and my 65 Alfa GT and added some$$ and bought a 75 GT4, I just had to have the V8 and carbs. The dealer told me the engine was RE-worked, i asked him what that meant and he really didn`t know,Well sent him all the loot and they sent the car, never saw it till it came here,When i saw it on the trailer, I could not believe how exotic looking it was, well its been a great car and never let me down, i have done some work to it ( off course ) and every time I drive it its like magical or something, and this thing rips , its like a drag car and 1 st to 2nd isn`t bad, its a mental thing,I have beaten a ton of cars with my GT4 and lovin it..BUY THAT FERRARI !
