While test driving an 87 328 - the yellow light came on to the far right in dash- looked like a possible fan light. Then the red light came on that said slow down - not good. The mechanic diagnosed as the ignition coil went up.
The yellow light did eventually turn off. Considering buying this car - opinions please. Thanks

Not a good omen!! I would want an iron-clad warrantee on that car if I bought it, particularly the slow down light issue.

good thing is that there isn't anything new with these cars..... most of the issues are easily diagnosed by a trained mechanic. GET A PPI. The fan light is also something that could be easily fixed... the guy you have diagnosing is one of the best in the business. His word and reputation precedes him

slow down light is common and good to know it works you definitely need to determine whats causing that and have it corrected does it stay on or does it go off when you slow down?

As we slowed the light would go off but would flash a bit. Mechanic diagnosed as ignition coil - there are 2 and 1 needs replacing. Car lost power as well - did what is was suppose to do and shut a bank of cylinders down.
Better it happened B4 I purchased.
