I stopped by Algar today, and went for a test drive in the S. I have to say for a big car it was very impressive. In sport mode with traction control off the car you can have alot of fun with it. The gear box is amazing and it can either be a comfortable cuiser in regular mode, or a nice curve craver in sport mode. Seats are great driving position perfect, my only complaint was, I wish the steering was not as light. if you can get a chance to drive one, I think you will enjoy it.

I rode in one when my dad test drove one in July. I've been driven in our old '03 Maserati CC, a Granturismo, and our '07 QP, and I have to say that when I was in the GT-S I felt like I was in a Ferrari. The car is unbelievable.

with the S did you ever get it into MC shift mode? It is even beyond sport mode and enhances it a good deal more.

Your dead right on the steering thats probably the biggest disappointment of the car, very little feedback through the steering and therefore little connection to feel the road. That being said, the best surprise was the suspension, I drove the non-skyhook and see no reason why skyhook is necessary. The MC-Shift (aka F1 Superfast from the 599) does change the character of the car a bit, but even with the power increase over the standard car its still a GT type car first and sports car a distant second. But when you compare it to the competitors in that price range, by far the GranTurismo S is the best choice.

From an Italian magazine that just published a complete test report on the Granturismo S:

    1) Acceleration was impressive - the car they tested had a lot of road-test miles hence the clutch was way past its best, it couldn't do better than 5.4s from 0 to 62 mph but it recovered phenomenally to achieve 0-100mph in 10.5s and the quarter mile in 13.1s. With a healthy clutch you can knock off another 0.5/0.7s to 60mph, which suggests a sub-10s time to 100mph and a quarter mile in the mid-12s. Impressive stuff.

    2) On the handling course where this magazine has tested a lot of cars the GT S was considerably faster than both the BMW M3 and M6 despite its heavy weight. This was also a non-skyhook car.

If only they could shed some weight off this wonderful machine it could be a 997TT killer.
