Hi Guys, Just got myself a 1994 F355 with a set of test pipes in a box. Locally pre 1996 cars do not need to have cats on them so I will be very happy to put the test pipes on and remove the original cats. Although i think the test pipes are for a 5.2 because they have 2 lambda sensor outlets, I guess I could just plug one off. My question is, is it a plug and play so what I take off the cat can be installed on the test pipe? or would I have an engine check ? I have read on the forum that dummy plugs for the lambda sensors exist. Would I need these on a 2.7 and remove the whole lambda sensor ? Thanks, Mauro
2.7s won't throw any codes. I went the opposite way on my 2.7 as it would make your eyes water at cold idle without cats. Instead, I straight piped the bypass.
You don't remove the o2 sensors or thermocouples. Transfer everything over and plug the rear o2 bungs.
+1 on the acrid smell, it would permeate my clothes and smell for hours. The other issue was the exhaust boom in the cabin cruising at motorway speeds was a real drag. on the plus side, the car shot flames when shifting at full throttle and at high RPM it sounded like God Himself screaming. Fun as that all was, I went back to cats once the novelty wore off.
