I am about to install test pipes on my 95 355. Kriessieg said they would fab them for me. What is the main difference in the test pipes and stock cats? I know everyone says hyper flows and stuff but not interested in them now. I searched the forums for thoughts but now after all this time, what do you guys thing. I am sure you work with these allot more then I do.

X - test pipes are basically a hollow pipe that allows the exhaust to run free thru it. Can be very loud....Much cheaper
Convertors have a material in them to cut down on exhaust gases as it exits. Usually emissions legal and not as loud...More expensive(3x as much)
If you can deal with the LOUD noise and don't have emission legality issues--Go test pipe....

I am not worried about the sound or money, just want to get as much as I can out at the highest possible rate I guess. Test pipes it is. Would this throw a slow down light?

you better check on that. Not sure if it will on a 95. If anyone has second hand test pipes I'm thinking of running my car on 'em too for the 07 season.

I also run test pipes on my 97 355. No CEL ... it is a euro version :) . This may explain that!
Nevertheless, I built my own "cat simulator" to ... simulate the cat presence on the signal of the post cat 02 sensor. Works great ... so far !!

Why not? It uses the post cat sensors and modify the signal in order to simulate the cat presence: reduced activity when in closed loop, but also full load condition and overrun condition. Could also work with only the pre cat sensors.
If you want to try it on a US version, I can provide you with the diagram and a pre-programmed micro-microcontroler. Quite easy to build and only a few components ... PM me

    Eric,
I see an opportunity for you, if you chose to build and sell them. BTW, is that some sort of air vent you have on your clutch housing?

Hi. May be, but : First have to check that it is efficient on a US version. Second, I am not sure the market is large enough to make some business. Third, I am lacking time for all the projects. Next one will be to install a wideband O2 sensor and to complete the datalogger I am building. Would like to see what kind of AFR a euro 355 is running. Want also to repaint the head-cam covers, ..... etc !!! I love this car :)

What do you mean by air vent on my clutch housing? Are you talking about the black part? It is there to cool down the clutch and was already there when I bought the car. Wonder if it was not part of all the euro cars. .... or are you talking about the aluminium plate I added in order to protect it against heat from the muffler?

I think the cat stimulator can work on most cars?

Dave the black part on the clutch housing appears to be a copy of one that is available from Ferrari.....the factory part is metal and is fully insulated.....there is also a version offered by the factory for the Challenge cars. I am not sure if this was an option but for the most part I do not see these on street cars....why??? do not have a clue......I swear by it...definitely helps the clutch live longer.

Hi Dave I have that part on my 355C. You can get ones made from CF if you want or get one from Ferrrari, they probably want a small fortune for it but the part No. is 168117. Regards, Vern
