Some people claim the sport cats reduce the exhaust gas smell but I have pipes and never had any increased smell.

I have high flow cats on my car. I do not like how the exhaust smells without cats. Plus I like breathing clean air. High flow cats flow something like only 4% less than straight pipes. If straight pipes can flow 550cfm and sport cats flow 528cfm the difference in performance is negligible in my opinion.

If you have a 5.2 (96-99's) the test pipes will give you issues with CEL because the o2 sensors in the back of the cats are reading the same as the fronts. The 2.7's (95's) won't have that issue because they have just one O2 sensor per cat.
