I came across this old thread in the 308/328 Discussion group but it refers to a TR.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/89191-tr-brake-light-flickers-stays-flickers.html

I am reviving the thread here.

The brake fluid warning light on my TR has been on for a while. The fluid is fine. A couple of times I was able to make it go off by pressing the little plastic dot on the fluid reservoir but now it doesnt seem to do the trick.

I opened up the fuse box to check item 13 as per the wiring diag that Steve M showed but this buzzer does not exist on my 87 Testarossa version.

Any other items I can check? Thanks.

Do you have a F113A or F113B engine TR?

Regardless of which one you have (but do advise as they are different in this area), if you unplug reservoir switch does the dash warning light go out?

when the light switches off when pressing this little plastic dot on the fluid reservoir then this part you may change. but to get sure you may disconnect the wires to this reservoir and see what will happen

    The engine block is F113B069.
With the reservoir unplugged the warning light does not come on when I turn the ignition on but the funny part is now the car won't start. The engine turns but its not starting.

Yesterday, before I started checking the fuse box I had the car out for a drive. I never started the car after i undid the fuse box. I wonder if I knocked off a wire or a relay? :(

    What a pain.

Well, the good news is that the F113B style is the most simple system of all with only the fluid level switch in the brake fluid reservoir controlling the warning light in the dash so if unplugging the switch extinguishes the light = must be a bad switch or the "float" isn't floating (assuming that the fluid level is correct).

I have seen the floats just fall off the pin.

Kind of rare and usually happens when lifted out for fluid change etc.

Help! As I suspected I accidentally knocked off three wires coming from a relay and going to a connector at the back of the fuse box. Two of these are blue and one is yellow. Shown in the picture. This is preventing the car from starting.

I don't even know how to go about finding these on the schematics. Please help.

You won't -- that's a homemade addition (and the other white connector with the black electrical tape on it looks like part of the "modification").

What are the wire insulation colors on the white relay block that they came out of?

It definitely looks like a homemade addition.
The wire colours on the connector are as follows:
    1. purple
    2. white with red stripe
    3. red
    4. black x 2. In the same slot
    5. white with black stripe
    6. blue with black dashes
    Picture attached.
Do you know what its for?

I am virtually certain that that socket is for the tachometric relay -- which is a safety device that prevents the fuel pumps from running with just the key "on" and the engine not running (if you look again, I believe the wire that you called "white with black stripe" is actually white with a dark blue stripe).

Had you noted before that you could hear the fuel pumps running with just the key "on", but the engine not running?

If nothing else has been hacked, you could try just buying a new tachometric relay and plugging it in to that socket to see if that solves the problem. (This thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/373818-tr-stumbling-backfiring-3.html post #10 has the Bosch PN if the price from the F parts suppliers is goofy).

You are right the wire is actually while with a dark blue stripe.

I will order the Tachometric Relay and test it. It might also fix the stumbling problem I get sometimes when I am cruising at 120KM/H.

Thanks for your help guys - Tim, Steve and Phil. Phil, I have sent a PM to you.

Just wanted to conclude this thread.

I ordered the Tachometric relay through my colleague in Latvia. It is a Huco and cost 35 euro. Installed it just now and it works. The car starts well. I haven't taken it out for a test drive yet.

Will pull out the old hacked relay after the drive.

Thank you all for your help.
