As part of the ongoing works to my defective clutch, I am having the flywheel re-surfaced and hopefully re-balanced.

My understanding is that the factory balanced the flywheel separately to the crank shaft; but I am not certain of this.

Can any of you guys confirm for sure that balancing the flywheel in isolation is the correct procedure?
    Thanks

See the text on page E6 in the TR WSM: "The individual spare parts components...are supplied already individually balanced..." (but some items are taken together to be an "individual component").

Separate is correct. However, the flywheel, clutch, and pressure plate are often balanced as a unit.

Thanks very much for your advice.

I am dropping off the flywheel at a machine shop tomorrow for grinding and balancing.

I have yet to get the piston out of the slave cylinder. Once removed; if the bore is showing signs of wear; does anyone know if honing is is best course of action?

    Thanks
