    Hello,

Why do so many 1985 -1991 US Testarossa's have a small hole in the center front air dam while others have a flush cover over it? Is that the tow ring? And if so, wouldn't the owner want to replace the covering?

It's Sunday and I have too much time on my hands after the F1 race.

    Thanks

Yes it's for the tow hook. The grommet that goes there gets lost or just plain falls apart due to age.

Mine pushed in last time I was cleaning my car. So sometimes they are just inside the hole and you can't get it out without dropping the panel that covers underneath the spoiler. They move so easy, very easy to push in.

    Bumping this old thread...

Anyone know the part number for the little bumper grommet? Does anyone have one still and would be willing to take some photos? Assuming they arent available anymore and would like to make a mold to reproduce them.

Yup, that is the factory tow hook. I found out the hard way. I ended up buying one off a Subaru. Needed it turn down a bit to clear but it fits.

This probably explains why there's almost always a hole on the red-painted TR chin spoilers...no red grommets?

Any body shop should have a plug that fits.

A bit of black silicon in the plug’s groove will keep it secure yet removable.
