Hello all, I seem to have a problem with my fuel gauge which my mechanic attributes to the fuel sender being faulty. Does anyone have one or an idea where I can get one? Eurospares/Maranello/Superformance all draw a blank. Could it be common to any other car? Any other ideas? Any help gratefully received. Thanks!
take this sensor out of the tank and have a look. may be something is broken or corroded? put both wires directly to ground and see if the light goes on and the gauge then shows "full".
On another auto I have, the 'dip stick' in the tank needed to be be cleaned with sandpaper to send a proper signal. Over the years it was coated with junk. Pulled the unit, cleaned and worked as new.
The mechanic doing my heavy was able to get mine working with a bit of TLC, I couldn't find a replacement one anywhere.
If you are interested in having your fuel sending unit repaired or reconditioned try The John Wolf Co, Inc. in Willoughby, Ohio USA. They did mine from an 1989 TR back in 2012 with good results. On the web as Antiqueinstrument.com
