Anyone able to share a photo of what they may have fabricated in the past to remove a stuck TR head?

Head nuts are off, but even with 15 years of regular service and Evans coolant there is no way a few mallet taps will shift these heads.

Maybe Evans coolant is the problem. I have never seen a head on a well serviced TR have any issues.

I do change Evans on a schedule. Regular antifreeze with water wreaked havoc in my BB512 and LP400s, even with regular changes. Everyone tells me head removal on a TR will be an awful job.

Some photos here of the tooling and gymnastics that Moorespeed developed to remove my ex-TR heads:

Fairly complex because, not only do you need something to bolt onto the head to pull with, you need something to bolt onto the crankcase to push against.

Grateful for the photos. That will allow the shop I am working with to fabricate something.

And never push on the aluminum of the engine block, the M20 screws must push on a solid steel plate

to make those tools it not needs a machinist. can do by yourself. only may be then looks not as good, but will do the work. have not to bend the metall, can cut and weld when there is no machine to bend or fold. of course need a welding machine.

For my part, I made the plans, bought the materials, but I didn't have the tools. So I contacted a metalwork company not far from my home.

I do not know whether it is or not but as far as I am concerned its an experiment and this is a negative outcome of it. I take a lot of heads off Ferraris and it has been many years since I have had a stuck one. Why? Coolant servicing and head torquing. Alloy motors require different care.

Mine's engine had always been maintained with standard coolant.
@JohnMH , If you are able to make a detour through France my equipment is at your disposal.

And what kind of water? The word maintained has different meanings to different people.

Thanks for the offer of the loan. The car is in Dubai and I hope to take the heads to Modena next month; getting a jig made here should be possible.

I am a believer in the Evans. Years of use in Porsches, BB512, Countaches, motorcycles, etc. No issues. The TR had 16 years of neglect before I got it.

Also, it took 20 hours to get to this point. That included making the tools.

    Perhaps I am overthinking it.

The 1-6 head came off easily. The Evans made for no discolouration, rust, etc. The coolant passages look really clean. We probably could get the 7-12 off with a bit more battering, but the jig is almost done so will just use that.
