For those who have done it, how high do you have to lift a testarossa to extract the engine and its cradle after removing the wheels, rear bumper, etc.

Would 2.5 feet do it? I once saw a picture on this site of a black TR with the rear end jacked up at a high angle and the engine removed. I have seen a TR apart, I would have thought that the car would have to be level to do it.

In principle it seems straightforward (the sevice manual even has a chapter on how it is done, complete with diagrams). Assuming that one is patient and has the tools (i.e. a strong, rolling variable height stand of some sort to lower and roll away the engine on its cradle), is it that difficult?

I pull engines from my motorcycles all the time, and have done the belts and water pump seals on my 8 valve Ducati, same principles right? Heck, a TR has cam over shim valves, not desmo valves. Just lots more of them.

What does a complete TR engine and cradle weigh? Any guess? I recall a TR is about 3600 lbs (not too light), what part of that is engine?

The idea of being stuck under a 4/5ths removed TR engine in the garage late at night has little appeal.
