http://www.raycoeuro.com/html/88FerrariTestarossaRed/index.htm I noticed this TR for sale and one major thing that caught my attention is the dash.. It's black. All of the TR's i have seen only came with a "brown" dash with tan leather seats. Did Ferrari come out with a black dash for a select few TR's? How could you make sure it had not been painted over (professionally) by a previous owner? Would there be a code in the VIN that would tell the interior color (brown/tan or black/tan)??
Testarossas with a black dash are very common. I think most of the TRs have a black dash, not brown. Brown is mainly seen on very early Testarossas. And no, the VIN does not show any information about colours.
Thanks evan but is this europe specific? Most of the TR's here in the US are brown dashes but if they were built this way then, i guess i have nothing to worry about... Just havent seen them around.....
Almost all of the TR's I have had came with the brown dash. I have only had 3 or 4 with the black dash. The black dash was an option and at no cost when you ordered the car. You could have your choice of dash color, carpet color and seat color. From talking with the owner of the store he ordered very few blacked dash TR's back when he owned the Ferrari dealer. At the time the tobacco colored dash was more popular. The TR I currently have for sale has the tobacco dash, but I personally prefer the black one...but I have only seen it one time with a tan interior...all the others have been black. my TR is crema leather with blk dash. In fact another Fchatter and I were talking about this just yesterday. AS far as we know , not too many black dashes - that did not also have black seats see my pics in the valentine mounting thread from the last 2 days
I would think that the black dash would cause more light reflection on the front windscreen and make it harder to see out. I like my brown dash. It's also probably not as hot as the black dash with that huge amount of glass right over the top of it. Besides, the brown goes better with the tan seats and carpet in my opinion. I have only seen two black dash TR's and it was on a red interior car and a black interior car.
Thanks khayes, i believe you may be right. The black interior and reflection. I noticed it reflecting (almost like a mirror) on my first F_car (308 gtsi).... I still love the black though.. Just a touch more then the brown but brown is still beautiful...
