I removed the UFi filter from my '88 testarossa (required a LOT of torque) The UFi filter has a 25MM thread and the Baldwin 253 that has been suggested on this forum has a 20MM thread. What am I doing wrong? What would be the correct Baldwin filter?

Where did you get that advice?

    There is no Baldwin.

    Buy an UFI.

One of the threads listed Baldwin filters a B253 and BT355 The bt355 has the correct thread, but I don't know if it is recommended. The B253 is listed in baldwin as a freeari filter but not model specific. Other the UFI what is available?

Nothing worth risking your engine over. As was stated above; UFI

The 253 is for a few of the V8's only.

At this time UFI is the only filter made for the TR.

I guess it's only available from Ferrari? ON the UFI site the filter shows as no longer available.

    Thanks for your speedy replies.

    Dear Ferraristi,

There has been many attempts to use an alternative filter to the pricey Ferrari unit.

The UFI sold by Ferrari is the only filter available. It's just not if it fits properly but I remember many discussions about the internal pressure, baffles and bypass. Just stick with the OEM

I always wondered if you could connect a bypass and mount a filter block elsewhere and then use a more common oil filter.

But I +1 that, only UFI will work.

You guys in the states should get together and bulk purchase some out of the UK. $25 US vs Ricambi's $58. And you can probably do better than that if you shop around.

It's amazing what you can forget. I used to work with Super performance and Maranello concessionaires for my Fiat and Ferrari Dino parts. Thanks for the reminder. Maranello price for the filters is 47 pounds including shipping for 2 or about or about $35 each. A lot less than the thieves here.

    thanks again

I bought 2 filters from marenello concessionaires in England for 50 pounds delivered or about $35 each. Delivery was 2 days from order! Better than locally and 1/2 the price. Maybe a group could get an order. Of ether and save more. Hey shipping was the same for1 or 2

Every once in awhile T. Rutlands will run a special on them. I bought 5 last time at $29/each, as I recall. It was advertised in the FCA newsletter.

Haven't we read a BIG thread about these filters some time ago ?

Someone used a saw to compare the internals and the UFI had another system then the cheaper other brands ...

So: UFI it is !! :)

There is also a big difference in the UFI filter for a TR and the 512TR. The 512TR is shorter because engine is 2 or 3 cm lowered in comparance with the TR ...

So be aware to buy the right one ... :)
