I'm new to Testarossa ownership. I sourced all of my 328 parts from Ferrari of UK. Do they not sell parts for the Testarossa? If not, where is the best place to get replacement parts?

I'm in need of the air shocks that hold up the front hood.

    Thanks

It's completely unfair that FerrariUK doesn't -- saying that TRs aren't 10 years old yet (because of the 512TR) is ridiculous ;). Other than things like the Bosch components, you're pretty much stuck going to T. Rutlands, FPsEx, a F dealer, etc..

The gas springs for the TR front bonnet are Sachs Part #SG437003 and can be sourced from www.rockauto.com (if you don't want to pay for the horsey).

I'm on my third set (the second set I bought with the horsey must have been very old stock because they weren't much better than my bad 1st set)!

Thus far, I've purchased most of the parts needed via the dealer network (Ferrari of Central Florida, Shelton Ferrari, and Foreign Cars Italia). There's also www.allferrariparts.com who lists many TR parts. I'm sure other places like TRutlands, Sodacoms, etc. sell various TR parts as well -- just haven't purchased any TR items through them myself to date. Did purchase a parts manual from Italian Car Parts.

There's supposed to be another guy out there by the name of Frank, who supplies Ferrari parts (especially TR distributor caps - hard to source). He is from the "old school" of business -- no website, e-mail, etc. -- only phone orders. You might give him a call as well, as he supposedly has reasonable prices. His contact info is: Frank D. Baker, AW Imported Auto Parts, Inc. (Ferrari / Maserati), 1-800-631-5589 (Eatontown, N.J.).

Ferrari UK apparently doesn't offer TR parts "yet" due to the fact that the TR supposedly isn't considered "vintage" by Ferrari's standards (i.e., over 10 years old). I guess they are classing the 512 TR models into the same category as the TR's. Hopefully, in the next year or so, parts should become available via Ferrari UK -- perhaps they can chime in here with more concise information ???

-- edit: Oops, Steve posted a good bit of the above info already. :)

the 512tr was replaced with the f512m in 1994 over here in the uk so it could be said it is over 10 years old as the first 512tr was sold in 1991 so that makes it 13 years old

steve f -- Your math is OK, but I believe their "rule" is that when the YOUNGEST year of a particular F model/family is more than 10 years old then FerrariUK gets the parts business (i.e., when the last 512M made is more than 10 years old, then they'll have TR/512TR/512M parts -- so maybe 2005~2006).

Your profile indicates that you live in Irvine, have you tried Ferrari of OC?
Chris Anderson is the parts manager and he is great to work with.
Recently, bought the struts for my 328 engine cover from them and they were very price competitive. Additionally, they are very good about handling warranty issues not to mention the fact that they are right down the street.

    Dear Ferraristi,

I've had some good luck from Ferrari parts exchange .com The guy who owns it, Lyle Tanner services Ferraris as well.

If you want brake rotors, the best price I could find was from my local Ferrari dealer, Central Florida Ferrari.....$ 280 a piece. (91 Testarossa / later chassis )
That's half of what I could find on the net.

My '89 TR is on it's 3rd set of those hood struts in the last 3 years! I would not go with genuine F struts if I were you, there is obviously a problem with them.
