well the countach camp clearly has won the testarossa/countach value debate...even high mile annys are going for over 200k, never mind 100K!
    so sad.

this seems to be one of those self flagellation threads.....

if you are a buyer, this period is the best shot you have had for a while at getting value for money.

if you are a seller....well you must really want to move things for your own reasons...

speaking only for myself, the reason i brought my cars to join me in the usa, including my 92 tr, is that from what i can see, it is entirely possible that within my lifetime i will have some extreme restrictions imposed on me for driving such 'irresponsible' vehicles. so the answer to that is to drive them right now, as much as i can. so thats what i aim to do. forget about value and depreciation, and just drive. if you still want to sell eventually then you will not be getting any bids from garage queen aficionados, but you might get bids from fellow enthusiasts that appreciate a sorted car. i am not planning to sell, and my kids can argue this choice when i am dead.

U are right; prices are soft enough that it’s a great time to buy; less to sell. That’s why there is a disconnect sales prices vs asking prices and that’s also why most cars sit till some event happen and seller makes a move or push it to later.

Enjoy ur awesome cars in good health ;)

    What’s interesting will
Be. How long they stay on for sale (I.e a long time) and the discrepancy between what they are asking and what it will sell for. U have a good example
    For urs for instance ;)

The black 1988, with luggage has been on the market since at least June. I can't think of what the carrying costs would be on maintaining that in inventory.

On the other hand, if you hold a number of companies under an umbrella, your consolidated financials would absorb the loss of the exotic car dealership vs the profit gains from real-estate corps, tech, etc.

    Great view point!
I know there is one in Miami a white one with a 170+ price tag and Parnelli had called and asked why so high? It was the shops owner’s car and he said he didn’t really want to sell it but wanted traffic.
I think the big f dealer can sustain a long period without selling the car, but smaller shop or consigned car tend to cave in to
The need for cash at some point.

Exactly. Bought mine from a small dealer, who although had another more significant business going on, didn't want the hassle of the carrying costs of non-moving inventory. I got a gift, but as you said, ...timing.

So, at the end of the day, it leaves a somewhat polarized market. In the examples from Canada, there are a couple of listings at the high end of the scale, perhaps where the carrying costs are not important and they are holding out for a market upswing. On the other end are the smaller, independents who need to turn over inventory to maintain viability.

But over and over again, the market is currently flat and may see a downturn based on employment numbers in the US and the general economic trend globally.

So, as a seller, if you are able to weather out the storm, then yes, ask the higher prices and not budge, plan for an upswing in a few years. For a buyer, look to the independents, ensure recent engine-out service and up-to-date maintenance. Definitely in that realm, Natkingcolebasket69's numbers are accurate.

This car which was bought at auction for a high dollar amount is now on this web sight that cells shares in the car for people who want to invest. 45.00 per share at 4000 shares. Funded completely in 1 day. 528 investors. Crazy! The app is called Rally Rd
