It’s very easy to unplug the white wire in the c10 connector too. That sends the signal to your tachometer and odometer. At least when mine was loose, my odometer went out. I was driving the car to work and noticed it wasn’t racking up mileage. But at over 90,000 miles I don’t care about that stuff.

Most countries do not require the manufacturer to declare a model year, the U.S. does and it is right on the VIN plate. There is no official end or beginning of that model year, the manufacturers are given an unbelievable amount flexibility. In 1983 because of changing emission laws Ferraris model year ran from January to December. In 1984 Ferraris US model year ran from December to mid July. In mid July 85's started to be produced. As many of you might know 1991 TRs were never supposed to happen The 512 was supposed to come out but was held up so Ferrari decided to keep building TRs.. Well Californias new smog law would not allow TRs to be sold in 91 so it was a 49 state car. We have a 90 with a higher VIN and a later build date than many 91's. Ferrari plays games all the time with model year declaration and we see by build dates VINs are not always produced in order. Trying to determine a model year by VIN alone or production date alone is a fools errand.

In short, the USA has no official beginning and end of model year, Ferrari never adopted anything but what works for them that day and to a great extent they are legally allowed to do it.

Thanks again Rifledriver for the knowledge, I stand corrected. But was the fellow FCA'er at all correct in calling me out for not having a true 94? It was identified and sold as a 94. Thanks

It is what the plate Ferrari put on it says it is. It really does not matter when it was built. As a US car it is legally what the plate says.

Is there a graph somewhere that suggests values based on year? Ballpark value on an 87 white/red 18,000 miles 2 owner in the current market?

Hmmm, if you trade a testarossa on a Cessna is there still tax on appreciation?

Rest assured John our 512-your 512 is truly a 94. Once again some peoples pants are on too tight. It truly was a great buying and selling experience. Enjoy.

Surprisingly that’s not much higher than 10 years ago, probably even… lower…

With used car prices up 67% would have thought it would be more…

Weird how the price is just stuck in a rut….

All except for the fact that either the mileage is a big lie or it was owned by a company named Hertz.

MC Hammers TR had a more gently used interior. And it was so abused it had a roasted motor.
