I almost never say this.... but $357k seems low given the mileage and given people were paying $275k for relatively normal 20k mile cars.

This 1989 just hammer sold at $155k. 17k miles. Nice but not concours. Lots of service records at F of Beverly Hills. Most recent service by pair of brothers who sold. A price I feel for the car

Tim at all the Scottsdale auctions and prices are absolutely nuts- especially American muscle. If anything, a Testarossa hasn’t keep up with this craziness.

I agree. I would not sell mine either for $200k

funny story, I had my 2006 Maserati Gransport LE at Concorso Italiano a few years ago - a older Italian guy smelling of Rolex, Gold, and Armani with his young arm candy says “I want to buy your car” I said this several times “it’s not for sale” and he walked away. I love that car. After I thought I should have said some outrageous price like $200k (it’s worth about $35k). Everything has a price. Wish I was better prepared!

Everything has a price but unless it impacts your living, personally, prefer holding;)

If you sell for an inflated price (funny money), you will need to immediately roll that money over into a different asset or face a 7% per year loss in your cash’s value due to inflation.

If you roll the money over immediately, you’ll buy a ‘different’ asset that is equally inflated when compared to your TR.

Selling when the market is high makes zero sense unless you are betting that the market will drop in the near term at MORE than 7% per year while you sit without your TR.

Enjoy your cars. Selling now is a fool’s errand.

At the Rm Sothebys Scottsdale, I had a look at this 1986 with >30K miles. Was in decent condition for the mileage but did have a ding in the rear lid. Sold for $162.4k. Listing said one of 300 US market Testarossa for 1986. Wasn’t aware of that fact. I now know I have one of 300 US examples - sounds better than 7000. Haha

That 300 number is for the US and Canadian markets combined for 1986, not just the US—making yours even rarer domestically.

    Interesting!

Your source wouldn't happen to list the number of US 94 512TR vins by chance?

    54. I have to go through a list of all US Ferraris made and pick out the specific model and year so I'll be taking no more requests at this time.

According to an online source There were only 408 US models made so 94 was not a good year. Ferrari knew in advance they would not sell well but at 54 units I bet that surprised even them. They did a terrible job promoting the car and they knew a simple face lift was a really bad idea. That was from focus groups after the design was a done deal.

To tell you how far out they plan products. We were told in 85 the TR would be the end OF FLAT 12's in street cars.
