Ex Gianni Agnelli car, different planet than any other TR spider, let alone a Straman conversion.....
Agnelli sale - 2016. The RM Spider is not your reg. Spider conversion either. I think the estimate is in the ball park for current market.
It is quite the car..but 1.5 million is very strong money. I could see the high 6's as being a more realistic number. But in today's world.. it could also go for a ridiculous sum of money.
For 1.5mil I'd get an LP400 or EB110 but as RM points out, that TR Spider's more exclusive, if that's what one's after. "Given the right level of status—and the bank balance to back it up—almost anything is possible in the world of collector cars. Behind doors which even the most astute of collectors may struggle to unlock, cars considered too wild for mainstream manufacture are created; bespoke projects straight from the imagination are brought to life. Perhaps one of the greatest examples of a collector’s vision made reality is this striking and rare Pininfarina-made drop-top, representing the peak of 1980s excess." "Further to the installation of a new clutch and fuel pump, technicians worked to disassemble, clean, and restore the engine and suspension. An itemised bill found in the car’s history file totals €83,170 for the work that returned the Testarossa to “like new” condition". If they did a full engine rebuild in that 83k euros, that's not bad.
Sure..they did a lot of work to it, no doubt about that. But to my eyes...that does not add any value. That is just maintenance

European customer service meets American cancel culture. Bat monetizes the "uproar". The assembly line moves a slot. That car was better than the moldy mess that sold for 100k and the red painted seats possibly engine damaged one that sold for 110k.
He should have led with this photo - very euro and the bat gallery would get frisky for other reasons. Irrespective, making no comments was the perfect bat antidote. https://static.hbvl.be/Assets/Images_Upload/2019/09/21/7867c368-dbc3-11e9-8896-260875535d5c.jpg
Obviously, but in the context of european customer service, it's actually pretty awesome. Too bad he didn't post that photo though - freaking classic. Anyway, wrong site. He'd get 90-100k on collectingcars with no effort.
Could just be a reflection of the changing markets out there. Toys are not a priority right now. People are hanging on to thier money pretty tight it seems. People are still servicing (I just dropped the engine on TR today for a belt service)..but PPi's have dropped significantly.
LHD in the UK, which begets the lowest bids since the UK left the EU, and in poor condition -- $96k + 5% premium https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1988-ferrari-testarossa-monodado
