By the way if you guys remember that red 512tr that was repainted and was at a dealer was listed for 189k. Another member here was considering that car for purchase and made an offer which was accepted for around 172k from memory. Had 16k miles. He waited too long they got another buyer that came in and the dealer got 179k out of him. I’d of much rather owned that car for 172k than that black one for 128k needing all that work. Even though it was worth 160k lol. I can’t make this crap up. So funny

Yes they seem to be doing fairly well. I have a great deal of faith in the testarossa and 512tr lineup. Some people don’t seem to have that much faith and worry when these shift downward. These are iconic cars and there will always be a market for them. Long term will keep going up despite what is happening today. Again, people need to quit trying to get ahead off of owning one of these cars. Most that try will often fail as you can never perfectly time the market. But the question is how much faith do you really have in these cars, more importantly what are they worth to you despite what the market is doing.

You or anyone else could offer me 300k right now for my car and I wouldn’t sell it. It’s not worth it to me. I not here to try and make money off of this I just want the car

Not for me. Don’t need the money. I could turn around right now and sell my car at a nice profit but where and when would I find another silver one in this condition with its ownership history. I’ve looked at too many of these cars and really nice ones with a good history are difficult to find. The ones you do are at the highest current price point. I never buy a car with the intent to make money. If it happens and I decide to sell great if it doesn’t who cares. A car purchase or sell will never change my lifestyle and that’s a fact. I don’t ever expect it to. My expectations are in order. Like I said very few if any are every going to make any real money off of these cars. Again 100k is not enough to change a lifestyle. I’ve gambled 100k away. Doesn’t change anything here. And that really happened during a weekend. Net worth is intact because I have many real estate investments in the Bay Area which translate to a lot of money.

as others have written already in this forum:

everyone will pay for a car what it seems worth for him and all sellers would be happy to get what they want. only the dealer are manipulating the market, because they live from their profit. but real TR owners, payed the car in cash and not financing and so don´t have to worry about the value

Well he might have followed for years before buying and carefully study;)
Seems like a lot of the cars are overpriced because of owners being upside down on them trying to break even;)

I said I wasn't discounting what he writes but generally speaking if you have owned these cars and been on this network
and forum you generally will gather valuable knowledge that is firsthand and not what you read in publications or the internet thus making your
comments have some legitimacy. Auctions at Barrett Jackson are not a source to gather accurate information about these cars and values.
I go to these auctions and have a big collection of cars and it is nothing to buy a car low and run it through 3 days later for much higher or sell
it on the property for much higher. Its just what ever was the spice of the day and it will be different with another audience 5 different times.

Nah. Forum membership isn’t a dependency to knowing how the car game works and he’s right that you have to take it all into effect. In the same way, anyone who has a long forum membership doesn’t get automatic legitimacy!

Yes that’s generally true. However I see people doing that all the time. But you can get a real good feel what a car might sell for at an auction over time if you are looking at a particular car. I was at several auctions where 512trs were going through that had low miles and excellent condition, I kept seeing 170k for example. I knew I could get one for that price for example because it was accessible to me on several occasions. I take off the buyers commission fee and that really puts the value a lot lower which I knew was also accessible. My buying philosophy is dead on. Your right though there are people there that will get a low number on their car in Monterey for example and take it to Scottsdale and get more money for it. You can see through that if you know what to look for. That’s just part of another form of manipulation which I am aware of. There are other things that go on that I am keenly aware of as well or tricks. I’m not counting those I’m just looking at or for the true market value of a car that I want to buy. Example: when I bought my shelby gt350 paid market value. When I sold it recently got every penny back out of it. At auctions too some try to pump the price up on some of the cars depending upon who’s selling, etc

Forum Elder? Haha. I'm on my 4th Tr over 25 years. I know a little but have absorbed a lot from "Elders" on this site about just about
anything you want to know. Wasn't pulling rank.
