328 GTB's are one of the only Ferraris that have actually gone up in value substantially over the past two years or so.
Most F cars peaked in value late 2015

I think of the 328 / 308 high prices this way... Magnum PI was on the air from 1980 - 1988 with the 308. Miami Vice was on the air from 1985-1989 (with a TR, after they blew up their daytona replica). The generation that had the 308/328s on their walls as kids are maturing now with $$$, hence the higher prices for them.. now. According to that logic, TRs will have their day in about 5 years! :)

You beat me to it. It's all about supply and demand in the end. With a hint of MSRP and desirability.

In these cases I agree with your assessment. These will sit for a while. I have a '86 and would never fathom getting that much for it. Nat, I am proud to announce that I took off the "spare" passenger flying mirror this week. I am slowing bringing her back to original.

As stated in the past, you can ask whatever you want for something, but what people (the market) are willing to pay is a different thing!

Hmmmm. Im kinda in the camp that the major posters when we were pimple faced were the Countach, TR, 930 and Diablo. I do think there is another 10 years at a minimum for the TR to go up in value. Heck...even the Millennials are ogglinig over our culture so there might be a double hump bump in values.

The 308 was an 80's culture icon but the TR killed it.

Lol..i just front brakes on a 65. 5k. 1600 per rotor, 960 for pads plus labor and tax. Customer was shocked! Car is now up for sale. He is a very well off guy, but just could not justify paying that kind of money for a consumable.

The AMG badl packages are really nice looking machines. Add an exhaust and a mild tune and they wake up nicely

I'm not sure, It's all about finding the right buyer for the right car and prices will be higher.
My 1991 TR with 26k miles went for $130k at Mecum Harrisburg last August, (buyer paid $143k with commission) it looked great, red/tan, black dash/red carpet, service done 2 years previously and 500 miles , I bought a luggage set, which might have boosted the price a little.

A Ferrari buyer for a major dealership group at that auction told me the day before the auction that he thought it would get $95-$105k

....and it was bought by a phone buyer.

    Ya never know

Wow, well done! I think you did very well, and obviously caught some less informed bidders. I think that price was strong for last August and would be very hard to see today.

$95,000+10% commission for a serviced, classiche certified, flying mirror car with 16,000 miles is a move lower for sure. Is it an outlier or a sign of things to come we will soon see at the Monterey auctions in August?

That car should be close to the top of the TR market. Mileage is a little high for the "Top" but everything else is there including classiche which you don't see too often on these cars and costs money.

No matter what certifications these cars have, they are only worth what somebody is willing to pay. On this day the top dollar was 95k. This does not reflect the overall market. Somebody was in the right place at the right time and managed to grab this car from under the table.

Take this same car and send it through an RM auction and the price would be significanty higher.

Testarossas will be 500k+ cars at some point soon...

As it stands, they are ungodly cheap...

    120k for a 12 cylinder Ferrari? Seriously?

    Let's see...

    Veyron 2mm
    Pagani 2mm
    La Ferrari 2mm

Today's super cars are outrageously expensive...

At some point, looking through that lens, the value is there.

The problem is predicting when. And the global economy has much to say about it. If your looking for attention, as testarossa will get as much as cars costing 10x as much...

Pretty surprised countaches have it 500k easily and testarossas have lagged.

    Patience... Grasshopper.
