I have an 86 Testarossa which has laid dormant for 8 years, the car was running fine at time of lay up. I have recently undertaken a full underbody/engine bay/suspension/brake restoration. Whilst the engine was out, I have fitted new belts/tensioners, new clutch, new plug leads and dist caps, new injectors, new A/C pump, full injection system flush out, all new hoses and clips (fuel and water) The engine is now ready for re-installation.

My question is, do any of our members know of any other items I need to address before refitting the engine assy. Any input here would be most welcomed.

    test the thermostats.
inspect the supply and return hot water hoses that go to through the tunnel to the HVAC. Mine were decaying in the inner hose.

Consider replacing the Water Pump and doing a valve clearance check/adjustment

Lubricate the acc. pedal cable well from the engine end (while the engine is out).

hi Steve my name is Carlo, I live in Canada(Vancouver) we have a car shop specialized in Porsche air cooler, we got a 1987 Ferrari Testarossa Europe version.
we have the timing belt replaced, after engine reinstalled it run for a few minutes then stopped.
we realized that we don't have any power to the injection control units, we are not able to find any diagram wire for give us indication where the problem could be.
do you have any idea on where we can find one?

You can get a pdf copy of the 459/86 wiring diagram for a euro version F113B engine TR here:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ox8kxpyzlsid9jn/Wiring Diagrams TR 459_86 from Ben.pdf?dl=0

If you have no +12V power at the KE-Jet injection ECUs (i.e., no +12V on the red wire at the water thermoswitch 146 on the side of the water Y-pipe), check things like:

the Protection Relay (C on Fig 3) operation
the 10A fuse of the Protection Relay (if blown that usually indicates a bad alternator that is going overvoltage -- so the fuse intentionally blows to "protect" the injection ECUs)
the C12 and C13 round connectors for a bad connection (I just noticed they left off the C12 and C13 connector labels in 459/86 -- they are the two connectors on the 137 box holding the Protection Relay in the lower right-hand corner of Fig 3).

hi Steve, I would like to thank you for you help which was crucial in being able to solve my problem.
with the right diagram wire I was able to locate the source of the problem( the red and yellow wire from the starter to the injection relay)
then the engine start again, but I realized that it ran just at one bank.
the car came in for timing belt and water pump service, plus the fuel tank and the electro valve on the fuel distributor was leaking fuel.
so we fix the fuel leak on the fuel tank and we replaced the electro valve on the fuel distributor.
now the case wants that the new electro valve is defected.
do you have any idea if some of the Mercedes have the same valve?
the seller will change the one that I got brand new, but the process time will be around 6 week.
I just want try to find something closer to my place(Vancouve Canada BC).

I believe some KE-Jet Mercedes did, but they aren't available anymore either. The only source that I know of for an EHA calibrated to the Bosch 2437020008 specification that TR use is Larry Fletcher at www.CISFlowTech.com. Best to send him a phone text at his phone number (not email).

AFAIK, you can only still directly buy the 2437020007 EHA used on KE3-Jet, but this is calibrated differently as it operates from -10 mA to +10 mA (whereas, 2437020008 is operated from 0 mA to +20 mA on a KE-Jet TR).

I had to call Larry to get mine. He sets them up for Testarossas. They are expensive though.
