Took the TR for a little drive with my wife. Everything was great, and I got her up to perfect temps. Strictly backroad driving no highways.

All of a sudden motor cut off and I lost power. Luckily I was able to safely pull over

tried to get her back on but there was no cranking. After making a call to my mechanic then making a call to a tow service, a few minutes went by and I tried to crank her again and I was able to get her on. Seemed like she was ready to shut off again at idle but I kept rpm up and just drove home.

she’s going in for belt service later this month. Last engine out was about 6 years ago and only 2k miles ago. I’ve put 800 miles on her so far with practically zero issues. New battery and new tires.

    any feedback would b appreciated

a member here since around 1 month and not filling out the profile and not introducing yourself. but asking for help :(

at what rpm the engine cut off? so at idle or during driving with for example 2500 rpm?

the lights in the dashboard has been on? there has been a "click" at the starter and only no cranking or not even a click?

I would say the main battery switch has contact problems when getting warm

    Updated profile!

Thank you for your feedback. Originally the motor cut off while driving I would say at around 2500 rpm.

when I tried to get her back on the first time, there was no click and no attempt at cranking. After a few minutes, she cranked and started up.

i don’t remember seeing lights on the dashboard. Maybe the battery light? Definitely not a bunch of lights. Maybe I should tighten battery connectors more?

    thank you
what about tellin a little what you are doing? this boxer/TR/M thread I think is a thread with very high technical information and so it will be good if we know about your technical konwledge. it makes no sense to explain a technical newcomer how to fix a differential or tell an expert about fuel-air ratio

    good idea ! ! !

so as if the battery would be empty?
contact problems when getting warm I suggest

how long you have been driving until the engine cut off? so 10 minutes? 30 minutes?

In this case it was about 20-30 minutes. I’ve taken her on longer hauls before. Weird. Convinced my mechanic to get her in tomorrow for her service
