    Kerry,

I'll post tonight before I go to my favorite 400+ year old Guesthaus to drink some Zoygl Beer. :)

Thankfully, it is only "a Klick" from my house so I can crawl if things get too bad.

    :D

Shamile, I think you might have been spending your time refurbishing the wrong 'top-end'.

That last shot looks like two bald guys trying to fight their way out from under a tent...

    :)

But seriously, your refurb on the motor looks just awesome. I'm sure we've all gained a lot from the pics and the detail you've put into it, so thanks very much.

    Cheers buddy,

    OK Guys,

    Here you go.

For BMW and the 3 and 4 line clips go here:

    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=4071&mospid=47211&btnr=13_0150&hg=13&fg=15

If they make a 2'r I could not find it. I'll head to BMW to continiue my search in the next few days.

REMEMBER: these fit the plastic fuel lines NOT the metal pipes. They will NEVER pass concours. But they are by far the best out there and that look vaugely like they belong there.

For Porsche 2 line clips go here:

    http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/928-78-82/107-10.php

THESE fit the metal pipes and are MUCH more robust than the OEM PsOS by Blackhorsey.

You can superglue 2 together back-to-back for the 4-liner "cube clip.”

They might pass a Concours Judge if He/She is not looking too closely. Even then, they might suspect something is wrong, but probably will not be able to "put their finger on it."

I thought one of the P-Cars used a 3-er, but I can’t find it now. Sorry. I'll get to a Porche dealer and see what I can dig up.

I'll try Bosch too. Sorta got a "man on the inside," there.

I think Cohline was the OEM for the metal pipes and plastic lines so MAYBE they made the clips too. But they are NOT user friendly (in a very friendly German manner of course ) UNLESS you are a certified fuel tech. Then, they will happily talk to you.

I'll post pics later of all three side-by-side.

    Dear Ferraristi,

I think it's just easier to use the F pimp ones. They're cheap...fit perfectly and the only reason I changed them is because they were yellow....after 19 years of use. Not one of them were broken.

    Cheap?

Shamile, the last time I saw them on eBay (years ago) JUST ONE OEM clip went for almost $100.00 USD.

Someone was selling one of each type in seperate auctions and ONE bidder got them all. Total was well into the Hundreds of U$D.

I had a suspect who I thought the buyer was, and I further suspected he/she was going to use them as patterns and make affordable clips out of a better, more robust material, BUT that fantasy has appearantly yet to materialize. Too bad.

Anyway, about what did you pay for those suckers, IF I may ask?

    Dear Ferraristi,

    Here's what I paid...the "4" clip wasn't on this bill...but you get the idea.

I think this was another Ebay Rip-off. Sometimes we get duped into the NLA folklore and pay anything cause it "can't possibly be available"

I once got suckered by ebay for a socket for my Lamborghini. I paid $93 thinking I got a good deal...cause it's on ebay of course...

...only to find the part at my L pimp....3 week delivery for $ 43.00 It wasn't a crucial "running" part and could have just ordered it...oh yeah...no shipping cost either.. :D

...we ALL learn new things everyday... :D

    Kerry,

    Here is a pic.

The busted 2-er is the one we all know and hate.;) The other 2-er is P-Car and you can see it is much better made. The big 3-r is BMW.

The other parts are something I am working on and IF it works I'll let everyone know.

    Dear Ferraristi,

With the bleeder screws open, fill up with coolant until it drips out of the bleeders.

The pressure testing kit comes with different adapters to fit on any type of expansion or radiator opening.

Once the right adapter and adjustments are made, the pump unit is fitted on. To create a seal, it has a bladder that you pump up by switching the unit to bladder mode. Once you set the pressure to "bladder" on the dial, you switch to pressure mode and pump up to the desired pressure....18psi in this case.

    Dear Ferraristi,

With the pump set to "system" mode, pump up to 18 psi (in this case ) and hold.

As soon as I started pumping up the unit, I could hear alot of hissing sounds coming from many coolant sleeves.

When I changed all my rad sleeves for the Gates Green Stripe, I really didn't know how much I should really tighten down the clamps. I did it to where it was tight and didn't leak. Under daily usage there wasn't any problems. With this testing unit, you REALLY KNOW how tight the clamps should be to withstand the desired pressure.

Once I went over all the rad, thermostat housing sleeves, it held 18 psi. OK...leave it overnight and keep our fingers crossed.

10 pm 18 psi (first gauge pix)

4 am 17.25 psi ( leaving for Miami) ....long day ahead... now thinking...where is it losing pressure??

11pm ...arrive at home to find.....18 psi Yay ! but wait...how?

Duh....at 4 am it was damn cold...cold front came in through the night and the temps dropped to the upper 40's At 10 pm the night before, it was about 75 degrees.

Well, by 11pm the next night, the temp was up to about the same....hence 18psi. I forgot...pressure drops as ambient temp drops.

Soooo....... 25 hours later....18psi ! ( Second Gauge pix )Test complete and full pass!

OK....now I can finally move on to putting the rest of the top of the engine back...

    Oh wait....accelerator cable....

For all the test tips and proceedure...I once again have to thank...

Jim McGee of Pocono Sports Car.

Jim's advice was so helpfully and he went over step by step what I should look for, how long it should be done for and what to do if it drops pressure.

The instructions do not tell you the procedure for testing on a Ferrari Testarossa... :D

    Thanks Jim! :)

I molded the fuel clips off of my 308 QV (2,3,4) this year and reading this reminded me to order the heat resistant resin to cast them. it's on it's way.
