Emissions regulations? You all must think that this is NJ, NY, California, or Mother Russia, but you would be wrong... This is Florida, baby.
Here's some updates. Test fitted the turbine into the bay Saturday with the subframe. Fits VERY well with a lot of clearance all around. Here's some pics. Also the guy the was buying the engine/trans might be backing out of the deal so the package might still be available. I have the COMPLETE package including engine/trans, ecu's, wiring harness, etc. Drop me a PM if you know anyone interested. Great project - I love stuff like this!!! Best of luck! Out of interest, for the less technically minded (such as me), what kind of temp do exhaust gasses from an internal combustion engine run?
1400 farhenheit, tops. Ideally, it's more around 1200. But that's right after the combustion chamber, it obviously cools down very quickly.
Max exhaust temp at the gas producer is around 790C or 1400 F, roughly. This is turning into a very fun project. Maybe I should get some sponsors Got the gearbox today and fitting tommorrow.
Cool project, I wonder what FNA will say LOL Knowing them they will hate it Since I love the TR body I thought of building a solar electric w a TR body, it would be cool to cover the roof & rear hatch w solar panels & have a Green TR
I hear there's a helicopter looking for an engine ... That would make a sweet looking/sounding boat engine!
The guy did in fact back out from buying the engine/trans etc. The package is still available...Anybody?
Hi Gary Right now waiting on some custom parts to be machined. As you can imagine there will be quite a lot. As soon as I get these back and installed I'll update with more photo's. Also making some custom shock absorber mock ups so I can set ride height of the vehicle. Going to use aftermarket coil overs so I can adjust them easier rather than Konis, plus the finish is nicer.
Hold it...turbines?! In a Ferrari?! I don't know what to say, I'm really mad about this! When you invested in the Ferrari, it had an engine that was world-class to begin with. Now you're putting something completely foreign in it? Trade the TR for a car like a Mustang GT that you can engineer without destroying a work of art like a Ferrari. -the Sienna Avenger
No doubt when the engine left this car it lost most of its Ferrari DNA. But tbakowsky is right, relatively speaking, there are tons of tr's around and are worth little money. Of course, 20 years from now they will be the Dinos of their time and worth over $200,000. -F
