    I have but one question:

I have an 87 TR with the black fuzzy rubber trim and would like to get some replacement stuff.

Soooo......To get back on focus here:

Who has it, how much is it for one car set, can I get some, and how do I order it?

Everything else in this thread is a waste of electrons.

Hopefully when I feel better tomorrow morning I will take some pictures of my sample fitted to the door surround to show the part does or does not fit.

    Dear Ferraristi,

    Bawahahah......

    That's something I would say !

    +1

You haven't been reading......the "found" trim according to Uzz, does NOT fit properly.

    Where things stand....

Curtis is developing a sense of humor

Chairman is pissed (rightly so )

Kerry is forging ahead with an uncertain part

Phillowzza has a bad cold and can't get to the garage

Robert (Uzz) is glued to the TV and it's not even porn

Shamile is still chasing tall thin blondes in very short tight skirts....none caught yet :(

    Shamile,

Sitting here in the garage, timed shootout for the top ten positions on the grid has just finished. Got the HD widescreen mounted on the wall, and turn left to sweep the eyes around the garage, Supercharged Lexus Coupe, Testarossa and Pantera all within view.

Who say's I don't have porn in the garage!!

So we will be back on track tomorrow with more info on this felt rubber gizmo.

The Pantera needs it too, so I may be able to use Testa replacement on that also.

    Let's see.

    Phil, how you doing?

    Dear Ferraristi,

    Well......as long as it....um....ah.....gets you "off" :D

Very nice pix Uzz. I just don't know how you have the time to take care of all these cars.

I just have the Ferrari and the Lamborghini and it takes allot of fun-time. If I added another Lamborghini, it would become work and get very frustrating. Right now it's still fun.

You may want to dip your toe in the Lambo pond one day....pure sex.

Im back, still croaking and with blinding headache caused by the remaining sinusitis, but thats my excuse for not laying the new kitchen tiles. Anyway I have taken a number of photos. I dont know how you will tell then apart on your screen but I have numbered them picture 1 through 7.
I have left the original seal in place except for the area at the top of the windscreen where it curves from the 'A' pillar to the roof section

Picture 1 shows how the top of the sample sits in the same place as original

Picture 2 shows a comparison at the green arrows that while the sample seal is smaller it still takes up the same location where the door fits against it.

Picture 3 shows the seal fitted from the outside

Picture 4 shows a close up from outside the car.

Picture 5 shows a close up from the inside of the car.

Pictures 6 and 7 needs some interpretation, one is show with the door ajar and the other with the door closed.
The camera has been placed upside down (looking vertically up) on the inside of the window, Hence there is a mirror image shown.

However, it should be clear that the seal is fully squashed with the door closed.

For me, I am going to go for it, I think that it will provide the necessary water protection, it is of good enough quality and is not too expensive, at least here in the UK.

The down side is that it is not original and the concourse judge 'might' spot the difference.

If any of you guys needs me to get some other shots let me know and I will do my best to help out.

Meanwhile, Madame has beckoned me to fit the bl00dy floor tiles.

Robert, I hope we get a look see at the famous Bathurst race over here in the UK, I know you ozzies love it.

In fact dont you ozzies use it as a blood letting game? You have to be a Holden fan OR a Ford fan.

Great pics... It does not seem right... w/strip area on oem is much larger and covers more.. Let me continue to search for an alternative.. I really don't think this is going to work.. I am afraid that you will hear some wind noise at highway speeds... could make for an annoying drive.. What do you guys think? I say we pass on this stuff and with some patience hopefully we can find a better solution..

When I fitted the sample to my car, I actually removed the vertical section at the trailing end of the door so I was actually able to test the rubber with the door closed. What happened was that the round sealing section was slightly too far towards the back of the car and when the door closed it foced the rubber even more towards the rear. Instead of the frame of the door sitting centred on the rubber, thereby creating an effective seal, the door was sitting on about 1/4 of the seal and forcing the rest into the gap to the B pillar and door catch edge. This balloned the rubber and filled that nice panel gap, which was a pain in the ar5e because you then had to slam the door more.

You really wouldn't think that some pissy little thing makes so much difference, but it does.

I'd love to slip my sample back in, exactly as it was when I tested it, but I'm a bt reluctant as I've only just replaced it with genuine factory stuff, and seated it nicely around all the leather and got my corners all perfect. And now you buggers want me to pull it off.

Shame my blue car isn't here at te moment as I'd have no hesitation at all as it's the one I need to use this new product on anyway.

It should be home anyday, and there is really no need to rush this decision anyway. Better to get it right than rush in anyway.

Phil's sample is only a couple of inches long, whereas mine is about 6 or so. Will also affect the way it sits in the door I expect.

Obviousy some are willing to jump right in, but I for one, am keen to get on board with this purchase but I also want it to be right.

DeTom has a sort of a woven cotton look instead of the fluffy felt. But either works for me as the Pantera isn't a concourso car.

Sunny all weekend Mike. You should have mail tomorrow also.

I am onto another supplier here in the UK. :) :) :)

Their catalogue is over 100 pages and it contains seals for lots of old UK cars.

As soon as I get some time I will phone or email for samples of the seals that look close to original. Spending loads of time in the garage presently, the engine is down to the bare casings and I am ready to operate on the belts and valves.

    Will keep you posted.

P.S. Looks like they have something similar to the boot lid (trunk???) seal also.

I thought you bought the weatherstripping that was "almost the same" but not deeemed as correct(by those who have analyzed it in this thread)? Did you finally find a different supplier?

    Dear Ferraristi,

Whow...... you're calling this stuff "non concourse"?

    ....how about "no way" !

This thread shows ( with Uzz's great help) that this stuff is way off...not even close. Even the "non-concours twist lock" guys don't think this stuff will pass.

If you're going to sell them on evilbay...OK, but you may have more than a few returns.

I'm sure an equivalent can be found but the consensus on this thread is that this stuff "ain't it"
